Using a drone allows you to experience the world in an whole new way. From soaring heights to smooth panoramas, action-chasing shots to fluid real estate advertisement, the creative possibilities with drones are limitless.

Take a Shot

There are several types of shots you can capture with a drone camera. Many of these are common in videos, films and documentaries to help convey mood and advance a story. In high-budget productions they're achieved with expensive cranes and cameras. With your own drone and a more modest budget, you can also achieve terrific shots! Here are some ideas:

Fly-by -Fly your drone past an object in the foreground.

Follow -Select drone models have built-in capabilities to ‘follow' a target, such as yourself, or the subject of your video. Even without built-in programming, you can achieve follow shots

Gentle Rise -Great for establishing shots and setting the scene, the gentle rise is accomplished by pointing the drone's camera straight done and slowly flying directly up.

Lateral Movement -Simple yet stunning, lateral shots produce the same effect as a camera on a slider, except that it keeps going. Try keeping the camera low to the ground when taking this shot.

Crane Shots -Starts with the drone on the ground with the camera facing forwards. Let the drone slowly rise up, revealing the landscape.

Getting Started

If you're just getting started with drones and droneography, Henry's has several drones that make getting started easy and affordable.

Most drones are simple and easy to fly, though it does still help to have some knowledge of terms and technique. Getting comfortable with your controller is an essential step in learning to fly.

While some controllers allow pilots to switch what stick controls what, depending on the user's preferences, most seem to be set up so that the left stick controls yaw and throttle; the right stick controls roll and pitch.

Terms Maveuvering
Roll - Push the right stick to the left or right, making the drone literally roll in that direction. Banking - Turn left or right in a circular motion, clockwise or counterclockwise.
Pitch - Push the right stick forwards or pull it back, which tilts the drone, causing it to move forwards or back. Hover - Use throttling to maintain a position while in the air.
Yaw - Push the left stick to the left or right, rotating the drone to the left or right to help direct the drone in the direction desired.
Throttle - Use the left stick forwards or backwards to control the height of the drone.
Trim - Maintain the balance of the drone.

Inspire 2

The first filmmaking drone just got better

Professional Image Quality. Powerful Flight Performance. Efficient Workflow.

An all-new image processing system records at up to 5.2K in CinemaDNG RAW, Apple ProRes and more. It goes from 0 to 50mph (80kph) in just 5 seconds and hits a maximum speed of 58mph (94kph) and has a max descent speed of 9m/s for unheard of speed and agility in an aircraft this size.

A dual battery system prolongs the flight time to a maximum of 27 minutes (with an X4S),while self-heating technology allows it to fly even in low temperatures. FlightAutonomy has been revised and developed specifically for the Inspire 2, providing two directions of obstacle avoidance and sensor redundancy. Increased intelligence adds multiple intelligent flight modes, including Spotlight Pro, giving even single pilots the ability to create complex, dramatic shots.
