  • Achieves both high resolution and beautiful bokeh effect. High level of resolution on the focus point while bokeh in front and behind the point of focus is carefully maintained to have soft rendering. Aberrations including sagittal coma flare and color distortion that affect the image quality are thoroughly corrected. From open aperture, high-definition rendering without blur is achieved. Moreover, by ensuring vignetting at the minimum and preventing color blur around the front and back of the focus point, it also achieves natural bokeh
  • Molded glass aspherical lens elements provide excellent correction to sagittal coma flare. It is perfect for astronomical photography and shooting of illumination because of the reduced blur on the point light sources near the edge of the image. It also creates an attractive bokeh in portraits and indoor shooting
  • For axial chromatic aberration correction SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass elements are incorporated, ensuring high image quality throughout the entire focusing range
  • The lens achieves sharp and high contrast image rendering

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor autofocusing and very soft "Totally disappointed by this lens. It is supposed to be the sharpest lens however has auto focusing issues and doesn't focus properly. Problem is you need to purchase the dock to calibrate as the in-camera micro adjustment won't work [it has back focusing in close distance and front focusing in far distance or vice versa] I used it on my Canon 5D Mark III, did two shoots and all the photos were not usable as it didn't focus properly, especially when you use the corner focus points. Canon 50mm STM works much better than this one with 1/5 of the price ! Had to return it after a week."

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Favourite Lens "This lens is on my camera 90% of the time during a wedding day! The bokeh, the response time, the hand feel, the crisp clean photos are so wonderful! I had the Canon 50mm and it has been out of commission for longer than it has worked and I haven't gotten it fixed for the 4th time and I don't think I will simply because this lens is so much better! I definitely won't be hesitating to purchase another Sigma ART lens in the future!"

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Hype is Justified "I've been shooting with it for a week and have been blown away with the results. Sharp, fast, good value (compared to Canon 50 f/1.2l). The lens is big and heavy compared to most other 50's so don't be surprised. Build quality and feel are amazing. In my opinion it looks pretty bad ass too."

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does not dissapoint "I mainly use my Canon mount lenses for wedding videography but I'm a photography enthusiast as well. This lens produces gorgeous video and photographs paired with a 5D Mark iii. I have a lot of glass, including Canon L glass, but I keep reaching for this lens the most often. 50mm on a full frame is the most versatile prime you can own. If you're on a crop sensor and can only afford 1 lens, go with the Sigma 35mm. These lenses are priced amazingly well for the quality. My only small complaint is the lens cap cheap and tough to snap on. I will be replacing it with a Canon lens cap, which is a sin."
