Impressive Images Made Easy

The Lastolite HiLite Background allows you to work in a way that was extremely difficult to achieve in the past, producing 'High Key' photography on location and in restrictive spaces. By rear lighting the white background itself there is no longer a need to use a background light behind the subject. Since the background is actually illuminated it means the subject can stand virtually right in front of it without casting a shadow. The HiLite Background also works as a large rear softbox and illuminates the subject as well, meaning you can use just one other flash head to light the subject from the front. What's more, the whole thing is collapsible.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Key to High Key "Having a blown out background is the first step in successful high key photography. Certainly it can be done without the the Hilite, but once you've used one you'll never go back to the over light the background model. In fairness, you will still need a couple of flashes on stands to light up the Hilite and you will really benefit (and shorten your workflow) if you have a flash meter to get the exposures nailed up. Simply put a flash into each side port of the Hilite, and trip them. Measure the flash output off the front of the Hilite from the camera position. Now turn those flashes off and meter your main flash that falls on the front of your subject. Adjust the flash power on your main flash until it is two stops less than what you got off the Hilite. Turn on all the flashes and shoot. Perfect high key, no time wasted and simple. Plus the Hilite collapses into a disk about three feet in diameter and is completely portable. You cannot miss with this kit."
