  • Nearly Perfect

I have owned the 430EX II and the 580EX II. I have used PocketWizards, Cactus triggers, and the built-in transmitter in a 60D. None of these solutions worked 100% of the time and all had major downsides. My 5D MKIII does not have a built-in transmitter, and I was getting tired of missed shots with my triggers. I decided to sell my flashes and triggers and buy this, along with the ST-E3 transmitter. I am very happy with my decision. This flash is built very well. It feels a lot like the 580EX II, but more polished and well thought-out. It is a bit taller than the 580EX II, so it posed a bit of a problem in my current storage case, but otherwise the build is great. The new LCD screen and buttons are a godsend. No more fiddling with mysterious menus. There is lots of room on the screen for all the commands, and everything is very well laid out. It comes with a colour filter holder and two orange filters. They work very well for balancing with tungsten lights. The radio function works perfectly. I can control my flash (and future additional 600EX-RT's) from my camera and the transmitter. No more fumbling inside of a softbox to change settings. No more worrying about line of sight. It works every single time at great distances. It's nearly perfect and worth every penny.
