A Tough camera with even better image quality

Equipped with a high-resolution f/2.0 lens, new image sensor, and new image processor

In order to bring out the full potential of the high-resolution f/2.0 lens, the TG-5 is equipped with the latest TruPic VIII image processor used on the OM-D-E-M1 Mark II. The backlit CMOS image sensor is also new, and features superb high-speed and high-sensitivity performance.

These components deliver low noise, high dynamic range, high-resolution, high-sped sequential shooting, 4K movies, and high-speed movies, making it easy to capture high-quality photos and video exactly the way you envisioned them, even when undertaking challenging activities in difficult conditions

Tough Camera covered in Mudd
Pro Capture Mode captures the precise moment

Variable Macro System

The TG-5 is equipped with 4 shooting modes and 2 separately available accessories for bringing out the full potential of the maximum 7x* image magnification of the variable Macro System. With the ability to approach subjects up to 1cm away from the end of the lens, you can capture images of tiny subjects that cannot be seen by the naked eye, Microscope Control Mode magnifies 1mm subjects that are 1cm away from the end of the lens up to 44 mm for display and shooting on the LCD screen (Max. image magnification:28x)
*35mm equivalent

Pro Capture Mode captures the precise moment

Pro Capture activates sequential shooting from 0.5 seconds to 10 seconds before the shutter is activated for capturing difficult shots such as the moment a whale blows water out of its blowhole

New image processor provides improved image quality

Underwater Wide, Underwater Macro, Underwater HDR, Underwater Snapshot

Simply set the mode dial to underwater to activate a scene mode optimized for underwater photography. TruePic VIII reduces unnatural color noise that tends to occur in dark locations

Field Sensor System

Field Sensor System

The TG-5 is equipped with a Field Sensor System that includes a GPS sensor, manometer, compass, and temperature sensor. Tracking information obtained by the field sensor and images taken with the camera can be imported to a smartphone, where the two can be linked and displayed simultaneously, letting you relieve the moment. With the field sensor system you can do:

  • Transfer tracking data, photos, and videos to a smartphone
  • Simultaneously display photos or videos with tracking data to releive the moment
  • Overlaying photos or videos with tracking data makes them more attractive and fun to share
  • Search photos and videos using tracking data.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great pictures, great flexibility With the F-Con & T-Con you have ultra-wide (19mm) to medium-tele (170mm), they even found a way to put on a ring-flash for macro! This is the ultimate walk-around notebook-cam for later shots with the DSLR. & with 12 MP, it would certainly suffice for permanent pix even if you don't get around to the later DSLR's, thanks to the excellent image quality of Olympus lenses! (Even in the old days of film cameras, I would have put up Zuiko lenses against Nikkor, Zeiss or Leica etc. any day.) All this stuff will also survive 50 ft. underwater & has a GPS locator, so they say, although I don't anticipate putting that to the test! You could even get a underwater-housing for this thing, which would make it impervious to 140-something ft., although that would cost you again as much as the camera itself. Only thing is the viewscreen does not swivel, you have to look at it @ eye-level. All in all, money well spent.
