A Tough camera with even better image quality

Equipped with a high-resolution f/2.0 lens, new image sensor, and new image processor

In order to bring out the full potential of the high-resolution f/2.0 lens, the TG-5 is equipped with the latest TruPic VIII image processor used on the OM-D-E-M1 Mark II. The backlit CMOS image sensor is also new, and features superb high-speed and high-sensitivity performance.

These components deliver low noise, high dynamic range, high-resolution, high-sped sequential shooting, 4K movies, and high-speed movies, making it easy to capture high-quality photos and video exactly the way you envisioned them, even when undertaking challenging activities in difficult conditions

Tough Camera covered in Mudd
Pro Capture Mode captures the precise moment

Variable Macro System

The TG-5 is equipped with 4 shooting modes and 2 separately available accessories for bringing out the full potential of the maximum 7x* image magnification of the variable Macro System. With the ability to approach subjects up to 1cm away from the end of the lens, you can capture images of tiny subjects that cannot be seen by the naked eye, Microscope Control Mode magnifies 1mm subjects that are 1cm away from the end of the lens up to 44 mm for display and shooting on the LCD screen (Max. image magnification:28x)
*35mm equivalent

Pro Capture Mode captures the precise moment

Pro Capture activates sequential shooting from 0.5 seconds to 10 seconds before the shutter is activated for capturing difficult shots such as the moment a whale blows water out of its blowhole

New image processor provides improved image quality

Underwater Wide, Underwater Macro, Underwater HDR, Underwater Snapshot

Simply set the mode dial to underwater to activate a scene mode optimized for underwater photography. TruePic VIII reduces unnatural color noise that tends to occur in dark locations

Field Sensor System

Field Sensor System

The TG-5 is equipped with a Field Sensor System that includes a GPS sensor, manometer, compass, and temperature sensor. Tracking information obtained by the field sensor and images taken with the camera can be imported to a smartphone, where the two can be linked and displayed simultaneously, letting you relieve the moment. With the field sensor system you can do:

  • Transfer tracking data, photos, and videos to a smartphone
  • Simultaneously display photos or videos with tracking data to releive the moment
  • Overlaying photos or videos with tracking data makes them more attractive and fun to share
  • Search photos and videos using tracking data.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Surprise Present I got the TG-4 for my first waterproof camera and this camera was amazing. My boyfriend loves taking pictures and would always take my camera. Since I now never had a camera I thought it would be a great idea to get him his own. I then bought him the TG-860 and this was also a great camera until it started to leak; this was sent in to be fixed and it happened again and again before I decided for Christmas I would just upgrade the camera all together. (I just wanted to say the flip screen was great while it lasted.) I then bought this TG-5 because I don't trust the range of cameras the TG-860 was from - my TG-4 still works and is great. I will admit the TG-5 is more difficult to use because there are more function and things are more hidden and not on the camera like it is on the TG-4 but once we played around with it we really like this camera. The pictures are amazing and we often take videos underwater and the sound is just as amazing as the 2 previous cameras so we were very excited about that. We love these cameras so much that his brother has purchased the TG-5 for this wife (also for Christmas) and his family is looking into getting one as well to replace their Nikon (that cannot go near water) as we are all water and beach people. These cameras have all been in the ocean and in the pools and they have great pictures in both. We also always wash off the cameras with clean water before they dry. In the end learn your camera and with every little function you slowly start to fall in love. Cameras are like people - all a little different: so pick the camera best for your style.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I've only used it a few times but works great! It is taking a little getting used to but so far happy with it. Can't wait to get it in the water and try it out!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Dead - Right Out of the Box I eagerly anticipated the delivery of my TG-5 as I am looking forward to shooting while snorkeling next month. Unfortunately, after charging the battery and updating the firmware, I turned it on and.... nothing. I could not even enter the language selection on the first screen. The camera beeped a few times and shut down. Very disappointed. Will take it back tomorrow and hope for one that works this time.

does this camera need any sort of lens protector/filter to prevent scratches on the lens?

Asked by: Chris
Hi Chris, The front glass covering the lens is a protective piece of glass specifically designed to withstand scratches. At present there are no other protective filters for this camera. You can use the protective lens cover in conjunction with the lens converter adapter CLA-T01.
