Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Well I mounted two Boulder 30 Solar panels on my shed in the backyard and connected them together. I put a shelf inside the shed where I can charge the Extreme 350. The panels charge the battery in a day if there is decent sunshine and two days if cloudy. Recently we had several inches of snow and after one day the panels had charged a fully exhausted Extreme 350 to 80% from filtered light through the snow. We use the 350's and the smaller battery units as power sources for bedroom reading lamps, charging an electric razor as well as for iphones. It is our sippy cup approach to solar energy without an array.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great; very portable and durable I own a Yeti 1250 and 3 Boulder 30 panels. During an 11,000 mile cross country camping trip we were able to dry camp for 6-7 days at time, keep our trailer batteries charged, and I was able to power my wife's AC medical equipment twice a day w/o ever hooking up to the grid. We also used it to power an Engel 42 qt AC/DC electric cooler/freezer. We no longer did we have to buy 20 lb bags of ice every 3 days, and our wine, beer and water stayed nice and cold. When at home the panels are set up outside the garage, and with an extension cable the Yeti and Engel sit inside keeping our beer at 40º all summer long without any grid power. From hot sun we get cold beer to share with our friends.

I had trouble with one of the 350 battery packs, called Goal Zero and they immediately replaced it with a new one, no issues since. The Solar panel efficiency is right on the money with advertised wattage. I live in Texas and even on the best sunny days I am lucky to get 20-25 % efficiency on the panels. I have plugged in over 1200 watts (full size fridge, 46" flat screen, cable box. lights, computers, etc) to the chained Yetis and 16 panels and showed a 150 watt surplus. I know the stuff is expensive but not as expensive as my piece of mind. I am very satisfied that during any electrical outage I will have power!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from operates in the cold I will first state I have several Goal Zero products and have been a customer of Goal Zero for several years. I live in the warm area of Montana, South Central Montana. Today I got up and the outside temp was -26, yes 26 degrees below zero. Okay, I know the best operating temp for the boulder 30 is 32 degrees and above but I did need to charge up my Yeti 400 and put more charge to my Yeti 1250. I put 2 of my four boulder 30 panels outside and now my Yeti indicates an input of 26 watts and I just had to see what these panels would do in a cold situation. Thank You Goal Zero. These panels do function in low temps, stay warm stay charged.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor Performance Bought this for my Yeti 400 and before I brought multi panels I wanted to give this a test run. My yeti was about 60% charged and right before I used the solar panel I plugged it into the wall and the input was 65 Watts on a 72 watt max, so I know the charge was needed. I placed it directly in the sun at the correct angle that was recommended. There were no clouds in the sky and no trees blocking the sun and it was about a 73 degree beautiful day. The most input I could get is 5 watts. This is suppose to be a 30 watt panel, but the only 30 watts this will see is if I hooked it up to jumper cables.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works as advertised Performs well - two panels connected to a yeti 400 showed 8-50 watts on a partly sunny day. Wattage went up and down as the clouds obscured and cleared the sun as any solar panel will. The severely annoying part - 1. You can get higher producing solar panels for less money 2. Seriously, why isn't there a standard connector? Why do I have to buy or ask for a converter cable to use this with Goal Zero's own products? If this is a sign of how this company is run, they're not long for this world. Such a simple design mistake. 3. Build quality, while the panels have a rugged feel to them, the boulder clip system is awful. Oh and the clips don't come with these panels either. Sliding the clips into the frame is hit or miss. The clips can be a nightmare to insert, one clip fell apart in my hand - the metal actually split.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid construction I purchased the Boulder 30 solar panels during one of the road shows at Costco. These panels seem to be very durable and well constructed. Anodized aluminum frame, with near shatter proof glass, makes these units perfect for remote locations setups. Add some panel clips and a Goal Zero tripod (which is also really well designed) and your solar array will be easily kept in the optimal angle for max solar exposure. The cable connections to link panels is so simple. Everything was very well thought out to focus on simplicity and ease of use. Good job, Goal Zero.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This thing can take a beating! I'm rough on my gear, really rough and the Boulder 30 has handled the test. I used this for 104 days straight on a 4,700 mile cycling tour across the USA. I had it strapped onto my trailer and let it charge up the Sherpa 50 while I was riding and on my off days in urban environments and at campgrounds. The most amazing thing is the fact that it still worked after the dozens of times I dropped it. Of course it soaked up the sun too. In my journey, Off the Grid Across America, I vowed to use solely electricity from my solar panels and Goal Zero made it happen. A few times I ran into a few days of heavy rain but I only plugged into 5 outlets the entire journey and never had to turn on a light switch. The Boulder 30 along with the Sherpa 50 kept my Macbook Air charged to keep me in touch with the outside world and give me plenty of time to blog about the trip. I couldn't have done this journey without this gear. Durable, dependable, and versatile are a few words to describe it.
