  • Inspiring views of your world:
  • Take photos and videos that are anything but ordinary with this state-of-the-art 16-80mm DX-format zoom lens. With a fast f/2.8-4 aperture, VR image stabilization and Nikon's advanced lens technology, it covers wide-angle to portrait views with absolutely brilliant image quality. An ideal lens for documenting daily life, conveying a sense of place, blogging, low light, HD video and much more.
  • Ultra-light, ultra-versatile:
  • 5x zoom lens with an f/2.8-4 aperture, which is excellent for softening foregrounds or backgrounds and highlighting your subject. On a DX-format camera, it's zoom range is equivalent to Nikon's 24-120mm FX lens (35mm format), a staple in many pro camera bags.
  • Pro-grade image quality: A new level of DX-format performance:
  • Unleash the power of your high-resolution Nikon DSLR. Nano Crystal Coat virtually eliminates glare, while Extra-low Dispersion Glass and Aspherical elements reduce color aberration and enhance sharpness and contrast. Capture vibrant colours, rich tonality and a level of detail that's staggering.
  • Rock steady: 4 stops of Vibration Reduction:
  • In low light situations, the 16-80mm's VR image stabilization lets you shoot handheld up to 4 shutter speeds slower to gather more of the available light without causing blur. There's even a specialized Tripod VR mode, a first for this zoom range, that eliminates the effects of tripod vibration.
  • Ultra-fast precision: High-speed electromagnetic diaphragm:
  • Nikon's DX and FX DSLRs can freeze action with fast continuous shooting speeds; this lens can keep up. A specialized electromagnetic diaphragm mechanism operates in precise sync with the camera's shutter for reliable exposure control during high-speed sequences.
  • Nonstick glass: Nikon's innovative protective fluorine coat:
  • Making it easier to wipe off water, dirt and smudges, the front and rear lens elements have Nikon's exclusive fluorine coat. This extraordinary protective coating technology has to be seen to be believed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great investment This lense works well and gives you extra zoom when needed. I use this for landscapes and portraits. I even used it for a wedding during the reception. Pictures came out great. Also great for nighttime pics.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from AF-S DX NIKKOR 16-80mm f/2.8-4E ED VR I have been needing a lens of this size to use in the field. I have been using Nikon equipment for over 10 years now. I have done everything from landscape to wedding photography and this lens is amazing. The size and weight are great but the glass and the sharpness of the images meets and exceeds my expectation. Good job Nikon.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An excellent everday lens for your DX camera Bravo to Nikon for making better/faster glass for the DX range of cameras. For getting some great images, and carrying around daily, this lens offers a great zoom range, with some of Nikon's better features (nano coating etc...). The build quality is better than the standard DX lenses, and offers a faster focus motor. The build does a great job of keeping it tough (for a lens) while keeping down the weight you will find with metal lenses. The picture quality is excellent (just check out the many sample images from users online). I bought this lens as part of the D500 kit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Everyday DX Zoom Lens Ever This new zoom lens is very versatile, extremely sharp, and great in low light. It is now my go-to everyday lens for my Nikon DX camera bodies.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great lens........but I love this lens on my D7100. It is small, comparatively, lightweight and sturdy. It is also very sharp. It does have distortion, but that can be corrected easily. My only issue, and the reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5, is the zoom range that has 2.8 speed is very short. 16-22mm. I wish the body were a little bigger/wider so the 2.8 speed was longer, or better yet, constant throughout the zoom range. Beyond that, I'm very happy and will use the lens as my everyday prime.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Blown away with this lens This is definitely my favorite lens in my collection so far. I am an avid animal and landscape photographer and this lens can be used for both (as long as you are decently close to the animal itself). The pictures I get are very very clear, more than I expected them to be. I use this lens on my D7100 and I can't say one bad thing about it. It's also a very good lens for star photography as it is f/2.8, honestly you can't go wrong with this lens!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nikkor 16-80mm F2.8/4 test i owned the Nikkor 16-85F3.5/5.6 years ago. It was a great lens but when I made the move to FX I sold this lens along with the D7000. Now, after owning a D800 and D750, I got intrigued by the latest offering, (in the DX market) the D7200. It proved to be a great camera for telephoto shots, (I own the 80-400 F4.5/5.6, the 70-200F4, the 300mmF4 VR) but I had no wide angle lenses to use with it. So, I purchased the 16-80mmF2.8/4 in the hopes it would be a good match. Well, after two days of shooting and testing I can say this. The lens is a winner for me. As I own the 24-120F4, I had an easy way to see just how 16-80mmF2.8/4, mounted on a D7200, would compare with the FX D750 and the 24-120F4. I was hoping for similar performance. What I got was instead, was stellar performance that frankly proved to be better both in sharpness and in contrast to the 24-120F4 mounted on a D750. In addition, the 16-80mmF2.8/4 does not vignette when a filter is attached. This has been an annoying problem with the 24-120F4 as well as other Nikkor wide angle zooms. Focus speed is good, distortion about what one gets with this type of lens, and build quality is quite good. As long as one keeps the ISO below 200 this lens on a D7200 body will outperform the 24-120F4 on a D750 body. It's that good. Even at F16, where normally diffraction would limit IQ in the DX mode, the image looked better than in FX. (Do consider that the D7200 does not have an anti aliasing filter that is present on the D750) Nikon has done a good job.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superb mid-range nano-coated zoom lens! I have waited for a long time for a flagship 16-80 range DX lens. It's here! The build quality, fit and finish is super. The ability to have this range in a no questions lens for a camera such as the D7100 and D7200 is now available. It is excellent in macro, can really reduce camera shake with the on board VR, and the lens coating appears perfect. If you have really longed for this zoom range in DX with no compromises this is it. It is not a small lens. The provided lens hood when in place makes the whole rig look even bigger. The focus speed is rapid and exact.
