Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of the best MFT lenses "I echo Zen's review. I traded in my Olympus 45mm f:1.8 for this lens, because the latter doesn't have image stabilization in the lens (I use Panasonic Lumix G and only the GX models have body stabilization, unlike the Olympus MFT bodies all of which have body stabilization), and also because one of the on-line reviews of this lens reports this one is sharper than the Oly wide-open, though they're equivalent stopped down. I can confirm the latter from my own technical tests with a lens resolving power chart. Moreover, in my hands on my Lumix G7 I can safely use this le"

Rated 5 out of 5 by from panasonic lumix 42.5mm f/1.7 lens "after reading the following i shouldn't need to say anything about this lens! in the usa: image resources ranks this lens as,""a lens of distinction"" in its list of best prime lenses of 2015 with the following comments, ""image quality is fantastic with tack-sharp IQ across the entire frame. combined with zero distortion, low CA and minimal vignetting when wide open, this lens is an amazing value"". from england: camera labs says, the panasonic lumix 42.5mm f/1.7 is very sharp in the corners not just in the centre when its wide open, and it delivers high contrast results. as an added bonus this lens focuses closer than its olympus counterpart so it benefits from having a modest macro capability. now you have the option of leaving your macro at home when you wish to lighten your equiipment bag. from the netherlands: camera stuff review has (interms of quality) this 42.5mm f/1.7 listed just below panasonic's 42.5mm f/1.2 lens (which is widely accepted as the best micro four thirds lens currently being made by any manufacturer and costing approximately 3 time that of the f/1.7) so indeed not only are we getting a really fabulous lens, we are obtaining it at 1/3 the cost of the f1.2 lens! so, yes i recommend this lens."
