  • Full Frame Wide-angle Prime Lens
  • Anti-reflective Coating
  • Dust and Moisture Resistant
  • Filter Diameter: 72mm
  • In addition to being a great choice for snapshots and landscapes, this bright f/1.4 35mm full-frame ZEISS Distagon lens facilitates handheld shooting indoors in low light, as well as night scenes
  • Shallow depth of field at larger apertures and a 9-blade circular aperture design make it easy to create smooth background bokeh for portraits or bridal snapshots
  • There's a whole spectrum of imagery that only a large f/1.4 aperture can create
  • A minimum focusing distance of 30cm makes it useful for shooting images of flowers and similar subjects as well
  • Sharp and clear from corner to corner:
  • Three aspherical elements, including one precision Sony AA (advanced aspherical) element, combine in a state-of-the-art optical path to effectively compensate for aberration and achieve outstanding corner-to-corner sharpness
  • That sharpness is maintained even at maximum aperture so optical performance is consistent at all exposure settings
  • For low-light shooting and smooth bokeh:
  • The f/1.4 maximum aperture of this lens makes it easier to capture clear images in low light, even when shooting handheld
  • A 9-blade circular aperture design enhances its capability for stunningly beautiful background bokeh when desired
  • Smooth bokeh can make subjects stand out in images with deep dimensional impact
  • Outstanding color and contrast:
  • ZEISS lenses are renowned for their outstanding color reproduction and contrast
  • The ZEISS T* coating is an important contributing factor, effectively suppressing spurious reflections that can degrade overall image quality
  • Flare and ghosting are reduced for enhanced color and contrast that give images a deep, three-dimensional feel
  • DDSSM delivers quiet focus speed and precision:
  • A DDSSM (Direct Drive SSM) system is used for precision positioning of the heavy focus group required for the full-frame format, allowing precision focusing even within the lens's shallowest depth of field
  • The DDSSM drive system is also remarkably quiet, making it ideal for shooting movies where focus is constantly changing while the scene is being recorded
  • High reliability in harsh conditions:
  • The lens features a dust and moisture resistant design that ensures reliable operation for professional use in harsh conditions
  • Optimized for movies as well as stills:
  • This lens is designed for moviemaking as well as for still photography
  • An aperture ring with switchable clicks can be turned ON for tactile feedback when shooting stills or OFF for smooth, quiet operation when shooting movies
  • It also features minimal focus breathing, an essential quality for movie shooting
  • Compatibility:
  • E-mount Full Frame Cameras
  • E-mount APS-C Cameras

Rated 5 out of 5 by from S. Africa and Zimbabwe bound! I purchased this in late July for low light game drives in Kruger National Park. All my "at home" testing has been superb.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This lens is permanently glued to my camera I couldn't be happier with this lens and the color rendering. It's sharp throughout and performs quickly and quietly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top lens for a7R camera Can’t add anything new than what others have said about the incredible sharpness and bokeh of this lens. Best lens I own so far. My comment will rather be around the weight of the lens. It is definitely heavier than the Zeiss 55mm f1.8, but it is lighter than the Sigma 18-35 f1.8 Art lens, which is another very good lens that I own for another camera system and which has almost the same size in length and diameter (10.8 oz for the Zeiss against 28.6 oz for the Sigma). If you carry your camera and lens in a messenger bag as I do, the weight of the combo will not be an issue. So don’t be frightened by the weight of this lens, it is not as bad as you may read.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best 35mm glass out there! Got this lens last month, and now I want to permanently mount it on my A7s. Since the day I mounted this, my 55mm 1.8 is collecting dust. Just love the character it renders. One standout is, when fully wide open this lens is tack sharp. It easily isolates your subject, which gives you that pop. I mainly use this lens as my everyday lens. From capturing landscapes to photographing my kids. If you could only own one lens, this is it! Built like a tank and it is weather proofed. I would highly recommend this glass!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic lens If you are shooting photos with the A7 platform, this lens is a must have for your kit. Yes it's pricy, and yes it is a bit large and heavy, and yes it looks so cool, but it's performance as a prime lens is remarkable. Colors just pop, corners are as clear as the center even at f1.4, and that's why you buy a fast piece of glass like this. The bokah is smoother than Dary Queen soft ice cream and only Superman can hear the AF drive motor. It is my go to lens in my kit, the IQ can't be beat.
