  • Full-frame Wide-angle Zoom Lens
  • E-mount
  • Optical SteadyShot
  • Filter Diameter: 72mm
  • ZEISS T* coating delivers superior contrast and resolution
  • 5 Aspherical lenses for low distortion and corner sharpness
  • Large Advanced Aspherical element for wide-angle performance
  • 3 Extra Low Dispersion elements reduce chromatic aberration
  • Constant F4 max aperture maintains exposure / depth of field
  • Unmatched ZEISS T* (T-star) coating:
  • Coated optics were pioneered by ZEISS - and this superb lens features the ZEISS T* (T-Star) coating that virtually eliminates lens flare, internal reflection and light scattering that can otherwise occur at glass-to-air surfaces
  • The T* coating contributes to outstanding image quality, with high contrast and uniformly excellent resolution right out to the image edges
  • Not simply applied to any lens-the T* symbol only appears on multi-element lenses in which the required performance has been achieved throughout the entire optical path, therefore guaranteeing the highest quality
  • Circular Aperture:
  • When changing your aperture to defocus the background, the light sources appear blurred
  • This bokeh effect of the blurred background can be enhanced with circular aperture blades used in this lens
  • Conventional aperture blades have flat sides creating unappealing polygonal shaped defocussed points of light
  • Circular aperture overcomes this problem through the use of curved blades that keeps the aperture almost perfectly circular from its wide-open setting to when it is closed Smoother, more natural defocusing can be obtained as a result
  • Aspherical lens elements:
  • Aspherical lens design dramatically reduces spherical aberration while also reducing lens size and weight
  • Spherical aberration is a slight misalignment of the light rays projected on the image plane, caused by differences in refraction in conventional spherical lenses which degrade image quality in large-aperture lenses
  • Specially shaped "aspherical" elements near the diaphragm restore alignment of light rays at the image plane, maintaining high sharpness and contrast even at maximum aperture and can also be used at other points in the optical path to reduce distortion
  • Well-designed aspherical elements often requires complex glass molding technology, but can reduce the total number of elements required, thus reducing overall size and weight
  • ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass:
  • As focal lengths get longer, lenses built with conventional optical glass have difficulties with chromatic aberration, and as a result images suffer from lower contrast, lower color quality, and lower resolution
  • ED glass dramatically reduces chromatic aberration and provides superior contrast across the entire image, even at large aperture settings
  • Internal focusing:
  • Only the middle groups of the optical system move to achieve focus, so the overall length of the lens does not change when focusing
  • Other important benefits include fast autofocusing and a short minimum focusing distance
  • Also, the filter thread at the front of the lens does not rotate, which is convenient when using a polarizing filter
  • Lens-based Optical SteadyShot image stabilization:
  • Gyro sensors built into the lens detect even the slightest movement, and the stabilization lens is precisely shifted to counteract any image blur that might occur
  • The use of precision, quiet linear motors and technology inherited from high-end Sony professional camcorders results in exceptionally quiet, effective image stabilization that contributes to high-quality movies as well as stills
  • Dust and moisture resistant design:
  • The dust and moisture resistance design makes this lens appropriate for heavy-duty outdoor use, especially when combined with a camera that employs weather resistant measures such as the Sony's a7 series of cameras
  • Included:
  • Zeiss FE 16-35mm f/4 T* Lens
  • Bayonet type lens hood (petal)
  • Front and rear lens cap
  • Lens case
  • Compatibility:
  • A7 Full Frame Mirrorless Camera
  • A7R Full Frame Mirrorless Camera
  • A7S Full Frame Mirrorless Camera

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Performance Got this as a gift. I personally don't like wide angle lenses because they have frequent problems with the picture and performance. However, this lens solves all of that. I currently owned other wide angle lenses(not from Sony) but this lens is the best one I'd had so far. The only flaw that I don't personally like; the focusing wheel and zoom wheel are a bit stiff and hard to use at first. But you get used to it after a while.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My new best lens This is my first Sony FE lens, and I am really happy with it. It handles really well and the photos it gives are sharp and vibrant. The 16-35 range is great for landscape photography which is what I do mostly. Zeis and Sony teamed up for a fantastic lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great quality and durability This is the very first lens I bought for my Sony A7Rii about a year an a half ago. It is robust and really well made, the quality is flawless, it has a little bit of distortion at 16mm but it isn't terrible. I love this lens and would recommend for any serious photographer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reliable, Love this lens. I've had this lens for over a year now and I absolutely love it. It even works for portraits. Incredibly versatile and reliable. I wish I would have bought the F2.8 because I shoot a lot of event photography at night but I really recommend this lens to anyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sony 16-35mm F4 lens "Initially I felt this lens might add some flexibility and range to my other lenses. (35mm 2.8, 55mm 1.8, 85mm 1.8) I was not expecting it to be up to my other highly rated lenses, but it is and then some. A nice surprise! To put it bluntly, this lens is amazing! Exceptionally sharp at all settings. You won't be disappointed!"

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Truly Excellent Lens I have used this lens starting in December 2014. It is very sharp and the colors are very pleasing. The 16 mm setting allowed to take really nice photos at Machu Picchu and the lakes in the California Sierras. The photos are crisp from foreground to background. The entire range of focal lengths produce excellent photos. It works well with the Sony A7R.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The must-have lens for social photography Excellent image quality, and a perfect focal range for any occasion where people will gather. Zeiss glass will never disappoint you. Paired to my Sony A7II camera, it focuses in a snap, and I never miss a shot.
