Rated 5 out of 5 by from GOALZERO on the John Muir Trail I just finished a 3 week solo hike of the John Muir Trail. I used my GOALZERO NOMAD7 and GUIDE10PLUS battery pack to keep my cell phone and satellite communicator charged during the entire length of the trail. Since I was solo this was very important. I was constantly amazed at how quickly the GUIDE10PLUS would reach a full charge. Then at night I would use the battery pack to charge my phone. I had afternoon and evening cloudy/rainy conditions for 6 of 7 days during the middle of my hike, and I never ran out of power. These products are so easy to use and extremely reliable. I attached the panel to the top lid of my pack and it charged as I hiked. EASY!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Suggestions to charge an iPad (daytime) Suggestions to charge an iPad during the day: Start with the batteries fully charged and the iPad turned OFF (not sleeping). First I plugged my iPad into the USB output port on the Guide 10 "Plus" Battery Pack, and then connected the battery pack to the Nomad 7 Solar Panel with the Ultra Charge Solar Cord to the solar input. Next I placed the solar panel in the sun and then TURNED ON the battery pack. I had no problems charging my iPad. (Sometimes plugging and unplugging the iPad a few times allows the iPad to accept the charging setup) I keep 3 sets of NiMH batteries with me and make sure at least one set is always fully charged.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Product, I love it I use it every day to charge my phone. I know it will be a while til it pays it off but I love the idea that I dont have to plug my droid into the wall anymore. Car trips are nice when we run out of power outlets for the kids ipods or what ever. I love using it on hikes. Only thing that made it lose a star was the cord that connects the panel to the guide 10 pack is just so short. I dont like leaving the batteries in the sun or when Im walking/hiking Im terrorfied the battery pack will slip out of the small pocket on the panel so it would be nice if I could tuck it somewhere else like my backpack or pocket but the short cord prevents that. Other than that, I love it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Power wherever you need it Took this kit to charge my devices whilst climbing Mt Kilimanjaro, the Guide 10 was perfect to charge up anything using USB in the evenings and the Nomad 7 was there to recharge the Guide 10 during the day. Simple, easy to use and small and light which was important having to carry your equipment. Also had 12v charger for my Canon camera's batteries which worked perfectly connected directly to the Nomad! Guide 10 is low on power as charging an iPhone drained the batteries quite quickly, sometimes only getting 1 charge before having to recharge the guide 10. On the plus side, you can take spare batteries and swop them out when needed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Took it to Alaska! Took it to Alaska to keep an iPod and portable speaker working for base camp tunes on a 14 day ferry to boat to camping trip. My buddy dragged out this little movie projector that runs of an ipod. We charged 3 sets of AA and one set of AAA. Before leaving. Kept the iPod charged, the headlights running, the portable speaker cranked, AND we watched 4 flicks projected onto a pillowcase! Even with the moderate amount of sunlight we were getting, we managed to stay far ahead on charges. My speaker holds 4 AA's, the headlights 2 AAA's each and the dam thing worked like a charm. My buddy ordered one as soon as he got a signal on his iPhone on the trip home. Goal Zero, you rock!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid solar charger Bought this for travel/backpacking/climbing to keep my phone/ipod/ipad charged: It is a nice setup with the ability to charge a set of rechargeable batteries that you can then use to charge your devices, or charge directly to the device. The drawbacks so far: when charging an iPhone 5..if a cloud passes or something transiently blocks the sun, the charging stops and you get an error message "device not compatible", so this kinda stinks. Make sure to have good direct sun and that it is out of the way. 2nd, havent really been successful at directly charging my iPad 2 unless very strong direct sun even then sometimes doesnt work well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from On the Go So i seen the product first online and thought wow that is what i need. See i am constantly on the go and not always with power to charge my phone or Tablet. I recently went on a scouting trip to SeaBase and well we were at sea for 6 days without power to charge my phone or camera. The Solar panel was used to charge the Guide 10 and guide 10 plus i own, and I charged my phone from them. But if those were full then why not Trickle charge my camera batteries and Tablet. It worked excellent for my devices. These worked so well that several of the adults on board have purchased them as well. I love it and it all stays in my truck with my Go bag.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A perfect piece of technology! I bought this from an outdoor adventure store in Adelaide and I've had nothing but positive experiences since. The solar panels have been through rain, 40+ degree celcius heat, sat on the dash in my car for days on end, been left out over night, been dropped and even sat on! Still going strong! The battery pack is a joy to use too, just wish it didn't make the high pitched noise when charging my iPhone 4s. Only seems to do it for my iPhone so makes me think it's probably an issue with my phone more than the battery pack. Strongly suggest buying this if you live an adventurous lifestyle and need a quick charge up while on the go!
