Additional Information

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The a77 Mark II - a great choice! I left Canon to purchase the a55 when it was "Camera of the Year" -- and have not looked back! Next I purchased the a57, a major improvement in my experience. My wife inherited the a57 when I purchased one of the first a77 II cameras to be used here in the Grants Pass, Oregon area. I'm blown away with its capabilities, especially when compared to any other APS-C DSLR on the market. I don't believe the lab tests mirror real-life usage - I have seen my photographic talents raise significantly since moving to Sony. I won't bore you with technical language, but believe me when I tell you that using a Sony becomes instinctive in short order. It goes with me just about everywhere I go, and I have great photos to prove it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A77 vs. A77m2 I have had the A77 since ~ March 2013, and have used it extensively. I recently acquired the Mark II. My reason was, the need to switch lenses mid-field, when switching between capturing wildlife (I use a Sigma 50-500 lens, which weights about 2 Kg) and flowers or butterflies ( I use a Sigma 18-250 lens, which is quick and easy). After using the new body for only a short while, I now itch to substitute my A77 for the Mark2!! The A77 is awesome, but the Mark 2 is so much more!! I'm looking forward to more improvements from Sony, so I can buy the Mark 3 to replace the A77.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Improvement to a great camera Replaced an Alpha 77 and find it to be a worthwhile step up, although I do miss the GPS. Perhaps an app for gps tagging from the smartphone? I wish Sony was more proactive in getting RAW file support by major photo editing software providers (adobe, Apple, etc.) The recent link up with Phase One and its Capture One software is encouraging. There are several new autofocus modes - it would be nice to have more clarification on how they work, and what they can be expected to do. I love the tillable viewing screen - it is great for those awkward shots that would otherwise require one to be a contortionist.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Advanced Features and Fun To Use This is my third Sony a-mount camera body and is the most advanced for me so far. The autofocus modes are impressive and helpful but require some practice to understand them. I'm very pleased with the auto white balance, which seems more accurate than previous models. The EVF is very clear and responsive, and I find manual focus with peaking to be practical and beneficial. The body construction is superb, and I recommend the vertical grip for the extra battery and convenience in shooting portraiture. RAW files will require some noise reduction but are very usable.Focus speed is fantastic when used with the 16-50 f/2.8 or the 70-300G Sony lenses - two of my favorites.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from More action keepers with this speed demon camera I've completed three male model for fashion shoots with this camera so far I've purchased a sigma 70 to 200 mm F2 .8 lens which is absolutely fantastic and on par with any Canon L glass comparables that I shot with in the past. I didn't buy the Sony version as it was $3000.00 versus the $1200.00 Sigma 70-200mm f2.8. I've shoot 2000 images and counting with no. Issues. The camera is a winner for Pro photographers and amateurs alike. There are so many improvement over the older A77 which I've shot with for 2+ years. Can't say enough about the object tracking high focus speed and improved facial recognition. Superb.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Big upgrade from Sony a77 The Sony a77m2 is Sony's best APS-C camera. The Bionz X greatly improves the picture quality. As a former Sony a77 users, I can tell Sony has redesigned some of the buttons on the camera. I felt like I was using a brand new camera, not a mark 2 camera. The video bit rate is 28M/S as before. I do hope Sony will release an upgrade for a77m2 to make it 50M/S just like Sony A7S and a5100. The a77m2 deserves it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superb performance for the price 6 months of shooting on the a77ii and I cannot be more pleased. The image quality is superb, while the loads of features packed into this camera are as cutting edge as anything in the camera world. I started on Sony so I have always felt the need to stick with them since I did not want to replace all of my lenses which would be very costly... The a77ii makes me not feel like this any longer.. I truly feel I am using Sony because it is the best product for me. The autofocus system is really a shining star here, allowing for more time worrying about subject than "will I have things in focus" The ONLY gripe I have, is that with the electronic viewfinder, I find battery life to be lacking somewhat. Have been on many shoots now where I have gone through 3 battery packs. But otherwise.... this is a fantastic dslr that easily makes a case to switch from the bog two (canon, Nikon) imho.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Camera for the Price Super fast and accurate auto focus. Extremely low noise in JPEG mode, which is what I primarily use. Great finder! All the advantages a mirror provides for focus and exposure control without the mirror slap noise and vibration. Super sharp assortment of high-speed alpha mount lenses from Sony Zeiss, particularly the 24mm f/2 and the 135mm f/1.8. A ton of aftermarket lenses available in alpha mount. Great grip and balance! Nice assortment of Function control buttons. Love the Smart Tele-converter (particularly with non-zoom lenses), the Peaking focus assist feature, faster than most electronic first curtain shutter (have never noticed rolling shutter effects), and lens aberration compensation feature.
