Rated 5 out of 5 by from Do you like detail? "If the answer is yes, then this lens if for you! Not too long ago, I purchased this lens for Macro to help me be more creative with my photography and take photos of things that I otherwise would have looked over. I usually bring this lens along with me when I go out looking for wildlife, in case I don't find anything. I was very pleased with the sharpness of the lens and the background melts away so silky smooth it is drool worthy. This is also a great lens for portraits and has enough reach for other types of photography where you might need it. I would recommend this lens, no question about it."

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super sharp lens!!! "I had been thinking about buying this lens for awhile and couldn't decide what to do. Finally I purchased it and I am loving it. It takes great portrait pictures. They are so crisp and clear. Also, I am just learning about macro photography and am so excited to see what all this lens can do. So far, with the little knowledge I have, I have captured some beautiful shots which again are so crisp and sharp and show every detail. This lens is a little on the heavy side but I am able to use it without a tripod. This has become my most favourite lens....would highly recommend it."

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent lens "I've had this lens for about a year now, and it's absolutely fantastic. It's extremely sharp and gives beautiful bokeh. The f/2.8 is very useful, not only for depth-of-field but also for helping freeze your subject, which can be challenging when shooting macro. For anyone looking to get a macro lens, it's worth the extra cost to get this one over the other Nikkor options. Even DX users will appreciate this lens...I use it on a D40x, and when I'm not using it for macro shooting it doubles as a great telephoto lens (105 is about 150mm on DX). Focus works great too (especially the focus limiter, so you can speed up autofocus when using it for regular telephoto). Excellent glass, for an excellent price. Definitely recommended."

Rated 5 out of 5 by from "A Real PROFESSIONAL Lens, But I lke it too." "Simply Awesome!!!! My lovely Wife purchased this lens for me as a Christmas gift. It's fast, reliable, smooth, crisp, quiet and did I mention it takes incredible photos? I wanted a lens that was able to take extreme close ups... and this baby delivers. The AF works flawlessly and the VR is first rate, even close up. Portraits have never looked finer. A bit heavy but I don't mind. (Just a constant reminder of the quality built into this lens.) Wouldn't want to be without this beauty in my case. I LOVE IT. Thanks Colleen"

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing "just bought this lens, Pro quality unbelievably sharp, accurate auto focus. good in manual as well I found the focus in AF hunting for real close up work and had difficulty with white objects locking on target. sometimes auto focus seams to stall and you have to focus away and then retry. not sure if this is me learning the lens or if it is a build problem with this particular lens.. overall impression I love the quality and speed of this lens in normal shooting as a prime. highly recommended."

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best "This is tied as my current favorite lens along with my 35mm f/2. The sharpness of this lens is absolutely spot on and the autofocus is fast and accurate. This lens is on my camera a lot and i almost always use it for portraits when im in the studio. Also, having it on a DX body increases the magnification and makes it an even more powerful macro. I would definitely recommend this lens to anybody, especially those interested in portraiture where space is not an issue (large studio or outdoor)."

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for Micro or Macro and portraits "This lens, as most of the macro lenses is very sharp. It is very accurate. I use it with the VR and autofocus on, for hand-held shots and for portraits, and I use it with manual mode and VR off, on a tripod for macro shots. The bokeh is creamy! I tried stacked focus with it, and the results are stellar. So, I highly recommend this lens. I am using it with a Nikon D500. Thanks to Doris that sold it to me at Henry's in Ottawa on Bank Street. The VR is a great bonus with a macro lens."

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent lens! We have had this lens for over a year now. I put it on one of our cameras the day it arrived and it has not been off since! It is very versatile and precise. We have taken shots from portraits to insects and everything in-between with this lens. We shoot mostly food photography and it is such a beautiful asset. Thank you Nikon and Henrys! '=)
