Bring every scene to life

Stunning images, even in low light

The DSC-RX10 features a massive 20.2MP 1.0 type EXMOR R™ back-illuminated CMOS sensor. The back illumination technology collects light more efficiently for extraordinary low-noise images even in low light.

New BIONZ X image processing engine

New BIONZ X image processing engine

Sony proudly introduces the BIONZ X image processing engine. It reproduces textures and details in real time, as seen by the naked eye, via unrivaled high-speed processing capabilities. It enables more natural details, more realistic images, richer tonal gradations and lower noise whether you shoot still images or movies.

Detail reproduction technology for more natural, nuanced images

Detail reproduction technology depicts details more faithfully with a more natural sense of dimension by preventing overemphasized outlines that plague most digital images.

Always keep subjects in focus

Even when capturing a subject partially turned away from the camera with a shallow depth of field, the face will be sharply focused thanks to extremely accurate eye detection that can prioritize a single pupil.

Direct Drive SSM

Direct Drive SSM maintains extra-precise AF on fast-moving subjects. The new BIONZ X image processing engine ensures swifter subject tracking and detection performance than ever before.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best camera for travel "This camera is amazing. The image quality and video is outstanding. there is no need to carry a big bag of lenses around..This camera is all you need for a travel and general usage. The viewfinder is excellent, and the camera is very easy to operate.Dont let the price fool you,you get what you pay for.I have carried around many digital cameras, big and small, this one does everything I wish for and more.,This 1.8 lb marvel will do 24-200 mm with constant F2.8 aperture the way thru the zoom. Thanks for the wonderful help from Barry at the Henrys Mississauga store. You won't go wrong with the build quality, rustproof weather sealing, plus it looks great. Thanks Henrys, you have done it again."

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Don't Be Put Off By the Price "Most people will be put off of this camera when they look at the price. While the price of this ""travel zoom"" is steep, you are getting real value. To beat the performance of the RX-10 you would easily have to spend considerably more on an interchangeable lens camera. The Zeiss lens on this camera is superb -- I am so impressed with it. At a constant f2.8 over an effective 24-200mm focal length you can not only extend this camera's low light capability but also create shallower depth of field effects. I am delighted with how sharp it is right into the corners. The image stabilization is very good and actually surprises me with how well it behaves. When I compared this camera to my Olympus EM-1, I had to go to my Panasonic 12-35 and 35-100 to match/beat it's sharpness. From a noise perspective I would say that the RX-10 is handicapped by one stop versus the EM-1. The fast f2.8 lens helps to offset the limitations of the smaller sensor though. You would have to spend a good deal of money to get fast lenses of comparable quality to that of the RX-10. The feature set in this camera is excellent. I love being able to customize my camera's and the RX-10 doesn't disappoint. I would not say that it is as flexible or ergonomic as my EM-1 but it is highly configurable, easy to handle, and responsive. If you care to shoot movies, this camera is also very good with lots of video-oriented features. While I am not keen on AVCHD, the quality that I get from this camera bests my Olympus and Fuji X cameras. One thing that you might have to get over is apologetically thinking of this camera in terms of it being a ""point and shoot"". While the RX-10 technically is a P&S, its features and performance contradicts what you would expect from this class of camera. I now find myself reaching for the RX-10 before the EM-1. When taken all together, the breadth of strengths that this camera has easily justifies its price."
