Rated 4 out of 5 by from canon rebel t5i "(For the one sentence truth, go to the bottom) General Review Intro: Marketed as an ?enthusiast?s? or even beginner DSLR the canon Rebel t5i is equipped with many bells and whistles, including in camera editing and effects and a twist flip swivelling LCD touchscreen. The Rebel t5i is an 18.0Mp APS-C CMOS sensor equipped DSLR with 9 cross type viewfinder squares. That capture clean and crisp photos with the focus adjusting touch screen or the manual button. It also provides a standard 1080p video at 30fps. It is available in a kit with a EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM lens and has available accessories such as other lenses, tripods and bags. As a bonus for new comers to the field, it is slightly more intuitive to operate than cameras in its genre.(pending on your learning style). Touch Screen: A great feature would have to be the touch screen allowing access to a variety of settings and even touch screen image review allowing you to look back and interact in a more powerful way than on a traditional button setup. Another feature to take advantage of the touch screen itself is the touch shutter, when its enabled you simply touch on the live image (it will pull focus to the point you touched and snap the picture.) this feature can lag but with a subject in view and some light it runs just fine. This tool is also very useful in filming as you can pull focus from one subject to another in real time. Video: Canon has added a very easy way to access filming from any point on the mode dial and compared to the Nikon models in the same genre the canon Rebel t5i is all around much better for filming. Being able to pull a frame from a video (taking a picture while filming) can be quite handy but the is not the DSLR for the job, during the process of taking the picture you will hear the shutter click, this noise will stay In the video and is especially loud without an external mic. Creative auto: There are many modes to choose from on the canon t5i but none would be better for beginners than the creative auto mode (CA). This allows the adjusting of settings such as shutter speed, aperture and ISO in a simplified manor, to achieve the look they want Low light performance: Using Nikons D5300 low light lamp it will perform better than the Rebel t5i in most low light focusing conditions, though they do both perform well in the category. Rebel T5i to T4i: Now in comparison to its previous model the t4i there isn?t much to get exited about, as cannon progressed in this EOS line-up change was visible between models, until now. The t5i?s mode dial spins a full 360o versus the t4i?s stopper, secondly there are real time filters and effects on the t5i, and a digital zoom while filming. Wrapping up with a more cosmetic approach, the t5i has a different finish and is made of plastic but still bares a solid weight of 16oz, giving you that solid camera feel. Definitely the biggest and most important change of the t5i from t4i is the added stereo mic, an essential when filming. It Is available in a kit with a EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM lens. T4i lens is similar but not an STM lens EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II lens other than these two large changes the differences are mostly minute, One Sentence Truth: Compared to the leading Nikon in its class (the D5300) the t5i underperforms in some categories with less resolution as a large factor."
