Rated 4 out of 5 by from Epson Perfection V600 Scanner I am generally pleased with my scanner and would have rated it at 4 stars instead of 3 except for one extremely annoying feature. When I scan color slides, the scanner will often truncate portions of the slide close to the edge of the cardboard mount, forcing me to do multiple scans and then use ICE to make a new composite image that gives me the full image of the original slide. I don't know why the scanner does this but it is annoying as all get out. When I scan something, I simply want the scanner to scan the entire image that I give it. I can decide later what I might want to crop; I don't need the fool scanner doing this for me automatically.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good one, a little complicated Once hooked up and installed it works great. It is a little confusing whether you are scanning, producing a pdf or doing something else. Finally, I found that if I pressed the pdf button on the front of the scanner, the software presented me with all the options I needed. The first thing you have to find is the file location where the scanner is going to place your document, that is on another screen...once you set that up, you are good to go...clicking on the scan button makes a page, clicking on it again makes another one, and clicking finish, forms all of the scanned pages into a single pdf document. That is nice...but a little hard to find.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Epson Perfection V600 Photo Scanner is Perfect I purchased the Epson V600 so I could scan numerous black & white & color negatives into my digital photo collection. After a quick trip through the instructions, I was quickly & easily scanning negatives onto my hard drive. Scan times depend greatly on how detailed you want the scan, but I can scan 24 negatives at a reasonable detail in about 10 minutes. The 1st part of the process gives you thumbnails that allow you to discard any photos you don't want, and then do the detailed scanning. I am scanning negatives that we taken in the early 70s and they are coming out as good as the day they were taken. This scanner is perfect for what I do!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dependable workhorse. I use my scanner just about every day with my iMac and Photoshop for documenting vintage dog show magazines and memorabilia. I even used it to reproduce color transparencies from the 1940's and 1950's that had never been seen before and I was able to share them with thousands of fanciers on Facebook. It does an amazing job and my Epson scans can be tweaked to, well, perfection. I bought my first Epson Scanner in 1994 with my first Macintosh computer. That scanner came bundled with Photoshop 3.0 and I have been a loyal customer with Apple, Adobe and Epson ever since. This scanner is superb. (BTW my scanner in 1994 cost tens times as much as the V600!)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Scanner for Photos I recently decided to find a scanner for my use in digitizing all my family photos that I've acquired over the years. I wanted one that would produce top quality images and also allow for some basic editing. After doing my research, I settled upon the Epson Perfection V600 Photo Scanner as the best combination of price, quality, and functionality. So far I have digitized about 150 photos and done some touch-ups of about 50 of them, and I am very pleased with the results. The learning curve is pretty short; the scanner is very user-friendly, and the results are excellent. It fits my needs perfectly. I have not come across any negatives with this scanner.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A nice scanner, software could be improved Have been using the scanner for 18 months with excellent results. My main use is for scanning film in 120 and 35mm, both color and B&W. The settings allow for good configuration tuning. My only complaint is that the software is a bit primitive. For instance, it does not allow auto thumbnail recognition in 35mm, except for standard full frame (24 x 36mm). I have to scan a lot of panoramic and half frame negative strips in 35mm; it is a pain to select manually each frame. This is quite surprising since in 120 all the sizes may be configured without any problem - and it works wonderfully. You may need to look for third-party software!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works As Advertised The Epson V600 Photo Scanner works as advertised. Quick set-up and copying photos with-in 30 minutes. I bought this for the multiple photo scan into individual files feature. I had this with an older All-In-One printer and found out that is a rarity in All-In-Ones. The only negative is the location of the Start Buttons on the front of the device. They are located directly under the area where you open the lid. I use the software on my computer to control the device, but many times, when opening the lid to clear the photos, it is too easy to touch the buttons and start another unwanted command. Other than that, this is an awesome device and so far I am impressed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Scanner... BUT I have had this scanner for about 2 months. I have scanned about 2500 slides so far and have generally been very satisfied. BUT, occasionally I find one or two vertical lines across the resulting digital picture, on both portrait and landscape pictures. It is most noticeable on slides with a lot of blue sky, or other areas of solid color. I cannot see this on the originals with a jeweler's loop so I think it occurs in the scanner. Perhaps a light leak or reflection? Epson has replaced my original scanner but I continue to see this effect on the new one. So far my solution is to rescan at another time. Does anyone else see this and have a solution?

Does the V600 scan multiple pictures at a time like the V550 and does the V550 correct for tears and creases like the V600?

Asked by: CarM
HI CarlM yes the V600 will allow you to scan multiple pictures. The V550 does have the same feature for fixing photos.
