Stellar lens"I was able to get this from the Henry's used section at a good discount.
It is an incredible performer. With care and using manual focus, even handheld macro shooting is possible due to the speed of the lens for nonmoving subjects like flowers. It's extra focal length allows the camera to be a bit farther from the subject as well.
As a medium telephoto, first off, weather sealing is important to me living in Newfoundland. As a performer, I have taken shots of surf hitting cliffs a Google Earth-measured 1.2 kilometers away that are very sharp including stopping the spray at f4 1/1000 using a K-50. Comparing the Pentax kit lens pictures of the very same field shows an immediate and very obvious difference in clarity.
Obviously this is a specialized lens. But for those who need--or perhaps desire is a better word (!!!)--its specializations, it is a performer."
