Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best kit lens I've ever tested "I got this lens as part of my new G85 kit. This is a fabulous zoom lens. Iђve tested sharpness, centre and corner, with my benchmark Edmund Scientific Company test chart using on-camera flash, tripod, with IS turned off and 2-second self timer to trigger the shutter. Unlike every other zoom lens Iђve ever tested, this lens tests equally sharp throughout the entire zoom range (tested at 12mm, 25mm, 35mm, 45mm and 60mm), is equally sharp (or sometimes even a bit sharper) in the corner as in the centre of the frame at every focal length and aperture tested, and is as sharp wide open as stopped down to f:8. Like all MFT lenses, it suffers from across-the-frame loss of sharpness at f:16 due to diffraction. The sharpness matches or exceeds that of any other zoom lens Iђve tested on a 16 megapixel sensor, and matches or comes within about 10% of the sharpness I get on that sensor with my best prime lenses. The lens is weather-sealed according to Panasonic standards (but donђt hold it under a waterfall, submerge it, or use it in a monsoon). At 60mm it gives 1:4 macro which translates into the full-frame equivalent of 1:2 macro focus. Solid-feeling zoom ring operation and very smooth AF ring operation. No switches on the lens body (IS and aperture are controlled in the camera, and there is no need for focus limiting in this focal range). Comes with a custom reversible hood. Is light and compact. The FFE range of 24mm wide-angle to 120mm, coupled with the 4 stop IBIS you get with this lens and a G85 body, and all the other features mentioned above, makes this the ideal and versatile one-lens solution for pretty much all daylight photography (except birding and wildlife due to the focal length not really being long enough for those purposes) and pretty much all interior or artificial-light photography."
