Ricoh GR is a blast
"I have never had so much fun with a camera, and Ive had a lot of cameras.
This is a ""Ninja"" camera in Japan, - its all black, its very unobtrusive, its so quiet its effectively silent, it attracts no attention.
It has a Sony 16 megapixel APS-C sensor, used in the Nikon DSLRs inside that small all metal body, that fits inside your pocket, even allowing you to sit down.
The image quality is simply amazing, with a really, bitingly sharp f/2.8 lens. Its fast to start up and focus.
It is really in its element when used for street shooting, though it can handle anything, including close up shots. The mono output is excellent and usable straight from the camera.
Its is less costly that the Nikon Coolpix A, a highly regarded camera, and is most often rather above it in terms of image quality.
It is not for a beginner. It is complex, with many features and capabilities that take some time to learn. It has the unique Pentax/Ricoh setting called Av/Tv that allows you to set shutter speed and aperture and lets the camera adjust ISO.
The auto mode is programmable to use a minimum shutter speed, so no more blurred shots. Ive used it with night shots in this auto mode with great success.
It doesnt come with a separate charger, though one can be purchased at a reasonable price, - which I would recommend, as you will use this camera more than any other!
A highly enjoyable experience"
