Sharp Glass"Sharpest Nikon glass I've seen in this price range. Probably the sharpest glass in my bag. Images are, for the most part, razor sharp through the whole focal range. There was a little softness around the outside and the corners at 55mm when wide open at F4. No chromatic aberrations at any focal length. The lens is light, much lighter than I thought it would be. As a result, it felt a little cheap to me when I opened up the box. The AF is fairly quick, but there's a clicking noise from time to time when the AF finds it's focus. I'm roughly certain it's the VR element, as it goes away if you turn VR off. The bayonet mount is plastic, which slightly irritates me, but again, at this pricepoint, for this focal range, sacrifices will be made. Nikon may have sacrificed a bit in weight and feel, but there were no sacrifices in image quality. This lens is seriously sharp. At around 3 bills, I'd recommend it. Hell, I'd recommend it at twice that, the images are THAT good. I deducted a star for the cheap feel and noisy VR, but it got it back because of those sexy sharp images."
