Rated 5 out of 5 by from New and improved? Yes! Unlike the EF 1.4X II the EF 2X II shows noticable improvement in image quality and in particular contrast over the old Ef 2X extenders. I have used it with various EF 70-200 2.8L IS USM, EF 300 4L IS USM, EF 300 2.8L USM, EF 300 2.8L IS USM, EF 400 2.8L IS USM lenses mounted on EOS 1D, EOS 1Ds and EOS 1Ds mkII bodies. The difference is subtle but noticable and IMO worth the upgrade cost given the less than perfect optical performance of the original EF 2X extenders. I can say that if you are needing to gain this much more focal length you are much better off using a longer lens. But if you are at the limit of your bag or kit this one little extender can sometimes put meat on the table with careful use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A must in every photo bag I have had the 1.4x and the 2x extenders for a while now and they are a must for every photo kit. They both are an excellent addition to the 70-200 f/2.8L IS. Autofocus is great on both my MkIIn and the 40D. They are great for plane-spotting and the zoo. They also do a great job with sports.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great extender. No AF on lenses slower than 2.8 This is a must for any photo kit, BUT you have to remember, the AF does not work with lenses slower than f/2.8 ! ! !

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent extender! I use this extender with the 70-200 IS lens for a long time and it is better than i thought! It's very sharp from corner to corner and the autofocus does not slow in comparison with the 70-200 IS alone. Excellent form every aspect!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic I was in Italy to see the formula 1 gran prix and I use this with the 70-200. The result is more than perfect and I print some on a big format with my canon printer

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good professional entry "I bought it since Xmas 2010. Loved it every minute using it. The only difference from EOS is its HD video feature. I only started using it on a few occasions and found the quality really good. To shoot a good steady one, a mini tripod against your shoulder when shooting is recommended to get a more professional look. I also like its high ISO available. With 6400, noise starts to show signicantly. With ISO 2000, 2500, 3200, picture qualities are excellent. I use the 18-200mm versatile lens to shoot indoor performances, birthday parties etc with excellent results. The locking mechanism on the zoom lens is a good safety device. I never take pictures using the automatic dial anymore. Its amazing to try out using its Manual mode with so many features and all with such amazing qualities with up to 14 Meg pixels. This is my first introduction to more professional like photography. I use a 18-200mm lens and it works like a charm. I have no use for my other cameras but to sell them all.. Conclusion: Good camera and try to get the 18-200mm lens as well."
