Quality time with the E-M5"I picked up the E-M5 last spring prior to travelling in the Mediterranean.
My other camera is the Olympus E-5 which I am in love with but I needed something a bit more discreet for candid street photography.
I have not been disappointed.
The 12-50 kit lens gives great image quality and the weather resistant aspect has come in very handy. Truth be known, every olympus digital I have owned (Including the Evolt 300 and two E-510's) has proven to be remarkably tough so I'm imagining I could probably drown this one then hit it with a rock and have it still working just fine.
Focus is fast and quiet with the kit lens and still acceptable with a 4/3 to m4/3 adapter and the 50mm 4/3 pancake which became my favourite walk-around kit. There's also a huge improvement in focus ability and speed in low light situations.
Image quality is definitely superior to the E-510 but I must admit that the overall image quality is still better with the E-5 pro model in spite of the higher resolution of the E-M5. Go figger!
That said, I've shot weddings with my old E-510 and the clients were as thrilled as I was with the results. The E-M5 is a huge leap forward from there in a compact chassis that is as capable and versatile as it is compact and light."
