Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does a GOOD JOB! "The mic does exactly what it says it will do. I have tested all modes. The mic is definitely better then the built in mics on the Canon camcorders. There is more depth to the sound. I find I like the ""SHOT GUN"" and ""90 degree STEREO"" mode the best. the SHOT GUN mode does indeed pick up a lot more of what is being recorded in the front of the camcorder. It does a good job isolating what is in front and really dimming down the surrounding noise. There is not too much difference between the SHOT GUN mode and 90 DEGREE MODE. BUT there is a big difference with the 120 DEGREE mode. You pick up a lot extra surrounding noise. The wind sock is a great feature. ON a windy day... it does make a huge huge difference. It is a little expensive... but worth getting. I would recommend getting it."
