  • Sony Alpha A6300 Body Black
  • Sony SEL PZ 18-105mm F4 G OSS Lens
  • Sony ECM-GZ1M Gun Zoom Microphone
  • Sony NP-FW50 Battery
  • Sony Alpha A6300 Body Black:
  • 24.2 MP APS-C Mirrorless Camera
  • 4K Movie Recording
  • Dust and Moisture Resistance
  • 3.0 inch TFT LCD
  • 24.2 MP Exmor CMOS image sensor:
  • The 24.2 MP Exmor CMOS sensor raises the bar of imaging performance. Its copper wiring and enhanced circuitry make it possible to lower the wiring layer and boost light collection efficiency, in order to capture low-noise images with a wide sensitivity range up to ISO 51200. The use of copper raises readout speed as well as the potential of advanced 4K and Full HD 120 fps shooting.
  • Focal plane phase-detection AF for A-mount lenses:
  • The a6300 offers focal plane phase-detection AF even when an A-mount lens is mounted using a mount adaptor (LA-EA3) from Sony. So you can take advantage of the autofocus system's uniquely wide coverage provided by 425 focal plane phase-detection AF points, as well as fast, fluid, tracking performance when shooting with other lenses as well as E-mount lenses.
  • Silent shooting:
  • Silent Shooting mode releases the shutter without a sound, even in continuous shooting up to approx. 3 fps with AF/AE tracking, so it's very convenient for shooting indoor performances, outdoor wildlife, and in other situations where silence is essential. To turn this mode on/off more intuitively and less intrusively, assign it to a customizable button.
  • One-touch remote/One-touch sharing:
  • One-touch remote makes your smartphone or tablet a viewfinder/remote control. One-touch sharing transfers photos/videos to your device for SNS sharing. Just install a PlayMemories Mobile app via Wi-Fi to your NFC-enabled Android device, then touch the device to the camera to connect them. No NFC? No problem, as new QR code compatibility can also pair the devices.
  • AF in Focus Magnifier:
  • You can use autofocus even while enlarging a selected image area on the viewfinder or LCD screen, for finer adjustment of focus, for example. This is excellent for macro shooting, when accurate focusing is crucial.
  • Lock-on AF:
  • This function maintains focus on a moving subject automatically. Simply align the target frame and the subject to be tracked, and press the centre button. If you lose track of the subject, the camera can detect that subject and resume the Lock-on AF function when the subject reappears on the screen.
  • Expand Flexible Spot:
  • When the selected AF point loses track of or is not positioned on a moving subject, Expand Flexible Spot function automatically directs surrounding AF points to restore focus instantly on that subject.
  • Eye AF in AF-C mode:
  • Eye AF is now available in AF-C mode in this camera. This means it automatically focuses on and even tracks focus on a subject's eye, as the face moves, extending your freedom to frame a shot.
  • High sound quality (microphone terminal, XLR adaptor kit):
  • In addition to plug-in microphones, the camera supports line input from professional-standard audio devices with XLR terminal, with use of a separately sold XLR adaptor kit (XLR-K2M/XLR-K1M) that enables connection with various high-end microphones. That way, you can make fine audio setting adjustments and high-quality/low-noise sound recordings worthy of serious movie shooting.
  • Clean HDMI output:
  • This function supports 4K and Full HD, and allows uncompressed movie to be output to an external recorder or monitor. The image can also be recorded in the camera16 even while signals are output using this function.
  • Gamma Display Assist:
  • With this function, you can view images with natural contrast while recording in S-Log gamma setting, converting S-Log2 and S-Log3 into ITU709 (800%) gamma for monitoring images, or checking focus while enlarging an image on the LCD screen or viewfinder.
  • Enhanced Zebra function:
  • Simplify exposure monitoring, especially when shooting in S-Log gamma setting. Target a video signal brightness level from 0-109%, set a range between +10% and -10% of that value, and zebra pattern indicates areas with that level of exposure within that range. New minimum brightness level setting reliably warns you to avoid blown-out highlights.
  • Dust and moisture resistance:
  • Enjoy carefree shooting in tough environments, thanks to comprehensive dust and moisture resistance measures that help prevent water and dust from entering the body. These measures include sealing around the buttons and dials, as well as a protective double-layered structure that tightly interlocks panels and components.
  • Robust lens mount:
  • The strength and rigidity of the camera body and lens mount provide an especially solid foundation for mounting and withstanding rugged use with even large, heavy lenses such as telephoto lenses and lenses preferred for movie shooting.
  • Power supply via USB:
  • Camera operation can be powered via USB connection to a PC or mobile battery. This conserves the camera battery, extending the length of time that the camera can be used before the battery is depleted. When the camera is turned off, the battery can be charged via the same connection.
  • 14-bit RAW output:
  • For RAW recording, 14-bit RAW output and 16-bit image processing help preserve maximum detail and produce images of the highest quality with rich tonal gradations. The 14-bitRAW (Sony ARW) format ensures optimal quality for later image adjustment (via Image Data Converter or other software).
  • ISO Auto Minimum Shutter Speed:
  • Prevent blur in a shot of a moving subject by setting a shutter speed at which ISO sensitivity starts changing when ISO AUTO (while in P or A mode, or in Multi Frame NR) is selected.
  • Bright Monitoring:
  • This function that boosts image brightness by changing shutter speed, for example, can be assigned to a customizable button for easy access when shooting a starry sky or other dark scene.
  • PlayMemories Camera Apps:
  • Express photographs more creatively with this application download service that lets you add new functions to your camera's feature set. Choose among Time-lapse for recording images at intervals and combining them, Smart Remote Control for control of settings from a smartphone or tablet, Sky HDR (high-dynamic-range-imaging), Star Trail, Liveview Grading, Smooth Reflection and other apps.
  • Supported in Capture One Express (for Sony):
  • Capture One Express (for Sony) is one of the world's best RAW converters, rendering precise colours and incredible detail. It contains flexible digital asset management, all the essential adjustment tools and fast, responsive performance in one customizable and integrated solution.
  • Free Download (Go to Phase One Website)
  • Sony SEL PZ 18-105mm F4 G OSS Lens:
  • Mid-range Power Zoom Lens
  • 6x Zoom Range
  • Zoom Lever
  • Filter Diameter: 72mm
  • High overall performance and contrast in first E-mount G Lens:
  • True to its high-end G Lens heritage, the SELP18105G lens features two ED glass elements and three aspherical elements for high resolution and contrast throughout the entire zoom range
  • Distortion at the wide end of the zoom range, and spherical/color aberration at the telephoto end, are effectively controlled so that beautiful rendering with excellent contrast is achieved at any focal length
  • A circular aperture design ensures that defocused areas are attractive too, providing an extensive palette of expressive imaging options
  • Handycam camcorder technology for fast, quiet focus:
  • Zoom operation noise has been reduced to the same level as Handycam camcorders
  • This is the world's first mid-range zoom for APS-C cameras to feature this type of "floating axis" construction used in Handycam camcorders, achieving exceptionally smooth, quiet focus and zoom operation
  • Another benefit of this type of constructions is that the length of the lens does not change while focusing or zooming, contributing to consistently easy handling
  • Zoom lever for continuous zoom speed control and new expressive freedom:
  • Similar to Handycam camcorders, a zoom lever on the side of the lens allows both variable and fixed-speed power zooming
  • Variable speed control is step less, for enhanced speed control freedom
  • The zoom level can be operated while maintaining a stable grip on the camera, minimizing the likelihood that blur will occur due to camera shake
  • And since an independent focus ring is provided, the zoom ring can be used for power zoom control even while focusing manually
  • Constant F4 maximum aperture throughout the zoom range enhances shooting convenience:
  • A constant maximum aperture of F4 throughout the zoom range provides plenty of "brightness" for fast shutter speeds even in relatively low-light situations
  • The same shutter speed and ISO settings can be maintained at all focal lengths when shooting stills, and consistently low noise can be maintained throughout the zoom range when shooting movies
  • Optical SteadyShot image stabilization:
  • Built-in Optical SteadyShot image stabilization can significantly reduce image blur
  • In addition to its advantages for normal shooting, Optical SteadyShot works with the Anti Motion Blur and Handheld Twilight modes to create clear, blur-free, low-noise images at night, indoors, or in any conditions that would otherwise be a challenge due to low light conditions, without making it necessary to boost sensitivity
  • Sony ECM-GZ1M Gun Zoom Microphone:
  • Zoom Microphone
  • Windscreen
  • Multi-Interface Shoe
  • Electret Condenser
  • Record faraway conversations, stage performances, and more
  • Its "zoom" mode lets you zero in on distant sounds, while the "gun" mode picks up sudden, sharp noises coming from whatever you're filming
  • Versatile audio recording:
  • Mic records in ZOOM MIC Mode to adjust audio in relation to zoom of camcorder
  • Mic also records in GUN MICC Mode to pick up sharp crisp sounds
  • Multi-Interface Shoe compatible:
  • Microphone is compatible with Handycam camcorders, Digital Still Cameras and Interchangeable Lens Cameras with a multi-interface shoe
  • Conveniently, the microphone is powered directly through the shoe

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing little camera Got the a6300 with the 16-50mm kit lens and also got the 55-210mm lens separately - All I have to say is WOW....I've been a DSLR user for some time now, but the features in this little camera are just amazing. The face and eye AF tracking with the edge to edge focusing points ensures that I never miss a single shot of my 2 year old daughter as she runs around. The tilt-screen ensures that I get shots of her at a low angle as opposed to having to lay on the ground with my DSLR. Doing landscape & cityscape photography is great since this little camera is just so light. Focus Peaking for manual focusing and zebra stripes for video are a welcome feature. Being able to see my exposure settings in the EVF (Elec Viewfinder) before I even take the shot is just amazing, which also means no more "chimping" the camera LCD with the EVF now. If I need to review a shot, I do it thru the EVF, which is so much better than with the read LCD screen; specially on a sunny day where you can't really see the LCD screen. All these options makes me feel like my other cameras are now relics of the past and my only regret is that I waited this long to get a Sony Alpha Camera. Some things that could be improved upon are the ergonomics of the camera, the menu system and the battery life.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from lovely camera for moderate user I bought this camera just prior to a trip.It was easy to learn. Amazing photos

Rated 5 out of 5 by from More Than Meets My Expectations I purchased the camera about a month ago. I have been involved in photography for many years and was certified in professional video too many years ago to get into. I have had a number of cameras over the years, but more recently have only had point-and-shoots for convenience reasons. I decided to go back to a DSLR, but wanted something more compact and mirrorless. After a lot of research I landed on the a6300. Granted, it may not have all the features of a larger DSLR, but it also doesn't have the bulk, weight or hassle in terms of sheer size. What it does have are more than enough features to make it one of the better cameras around. And the speed of the focusing system is amazing. What really counts in a camera are the results... the pictures. So far, all I can say is that the quality and resolution of the photos I've taken are equal to or better than my old Nikon N90s... which was one of the best film SLR's of the 1990's. Anyone familiar with the Nikon knows what type of quality that camera produced... anything that is comparable to it or the N5 is giving high praise. And I'm giving the a6300 high praise. I've read a lot of pro's and con's regarding the camera software.... some saying its too complicated; other saying it's too "packed" and others saying it offers too many options. I have to admit their are a lot of options built into the software, maybe a bit too many for someone who is looking for simplicity, but for those willing to take up the challenge of trying different settings, it's a nice piece of kit. It will certainly take some working with to figure it all out... but I'm not sure other, more expensive, DSLR's don't have the same issues in terms of complex software and settings. In terms of build quality, this camera is built like a tank. It offers a nice heft (without being too weighty) and you can feel the quality right off the bat. The controls are well placed for the real estate that's available. Some have complained of the placement of a couple of the function buttons, but I've found nothing to complain about. The only complaint I do have is that the hand grip is a bit small. To offset that I purchased a half-case that adds more bulk to the hand grip for a better hold. It also adds a bit more bulk to the camera overall.... but something I can live with. I have a long way to go in terms of getting to know the true capabilities of the a6300 but I have a feeling I won't be disappointed. Sure, its not perfect, but then again no camera is. I just found this to be the best camera for my personal needs and requirements.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great features. This camera does many of the functions I have wanted for many years.
    Date published: 2018-05-08
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Camera crashed I purchased this camera a year and a half ago, use it mostly for work and love the size/picture quality. I have taken great care of the camera, never been wet, no drops. But when shooting in manual the settings started freezing, then the menu and everything else (aside from the shutter) just stopped working. I tried removing the battery and restarted the camera....nothing. Finally after a hard reset the buttons started working again, but after taking 10 pics they wigged out again. My warranty is out so I would have to pay a large base rate for Sony’s authorized repair (who knows how expensive it would be if I need replacement parts) and the repair would only be warranted for 90 days. The problem is clearly a manufacturer fault and has made me lose faith in Sony.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from SONY 6300 Very good camera. My recomendations to by only Sony.
    Date published: 2018-03-10
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great pictures, but overheats and handles poorly Bought this about 1-1/2 years ago. Overheated that first time I used it in the front yard. Sent it back and Sony sent me a replacement with the latest firmware. Excellent customer service at that time. Worked better, but has overheated on several occasions since. Not reliable enough to take on a "vacation of a lifetime." Handling is poor. For those of us coming from other brands (i.e., Canon), the menu system requires way too much poking around to find what one is looking for.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding Upgrade from my NEX-6! I have been quite pleased with my Sony NEX-6 camera, but decided to upgrade to the a6300 to get a better and higher-resolution sensor, faster and better autofocus, and higher-quality video capability. The a6300 has met my expectations on all counts. It runs rings around the NEX-6 in terms of autofocus speed and accuracy. Image quality is very slightly better, but the extra sensor resolution means that cropped photos are particularly sharper and more detailed. As a movie camera, the a6300 is outstanding, particularly when I use it with a fast lens like the f/1.8 50mm. I was initially reluctant to spend this much for a camera that appears to be only an incremental upgrade from the NEX-6, but the a6300 is a big step up in so many ways, it is definitely worth the cost to me. As other reviews have noted, some of the menus are bewildering and lengthy, so it can be hard sometimes to figure out exactly what it is you need to do to make certain things happen. Sony could work on this.
