Our Camera 101: Canon 70D/7D course is an essential first step to learning how to get the very best results with your DSLR camera. This course is all about gaining familiarity with the key features of the camera that you'll use every day. Our primary goal in this course is to quickly graduate from the cameras AUTO mode. We'll show you how to use shooting modes specific to everyday shooting scenarios such as sports, portraiture and landscape. Most importantly, we'll show you how to take control of your camera so that you'll be able to achieve great results even in challenging light or when your subject is moving quickly. You'll also learn how to take control of your cameras focus system to ensure that your subject is always clear and sharp.
- Essential everyday camera controls- Using camera presets for specific shooting scenarios- Taking control of focus for clear and sharp photos- Photographing subjects in motion successfully- How to overcome challenging lighting scenarios- Understanding when to use (and not to use) flash- Getting proper colour in your photos- Choosing the right lens for the shot
Owners of Canon 70D & 7D cameras who wish to move out of auto mode and have more control over the results.Note: If you own a Canon 60D or similar model you are welcome to attend this course.
- Your camera- Charged battery (fully charge it before class)- Memory card
Rob is a very knowledgeable and enthusiastic instructor. I'm already putting my knowledge to work. It was definitely worth the time to take this course and finally learn what all the buttons do as well as little tricks to help the photo-taking process along.

I recently purchased my 70D and yes, I've read the manual (twice) but I still felt I learned more about my new camera taking the course then I had experimenting on my own. After the course was over I went home and spent the next 5 hours practicing. If you are an amateur and you purchase a 70D, take the course, you won't be disappointed!
I just came off a 12 hour night shift and attended this course. I honestly thought I would be asleep half way through. Turns out I was mistaken. The instructor was amazing. He kept my interest thoroughly through the entire course. He was funny, articulate and extremely knowledgeable. It was never boring. I left the course with an entirely new respect for my camera and I can no longer call myself a newbie. I'm now what one would call Intermediate. I'm doing the DSLR 201 course next for sure. If I got this much from the basic course I can only imagine what the 201 course would do for me. I would most likely be an expert by the end of it. All in all I think this course is a must for anyone who has a Canon DSLR 7D, 70D or 60D camera. I give this course two thumbs and a big toe.
I took this course to learn more about my new 60D, as a more than satisfied owner of a DSLR camera(one of the first Rebels) I was going into this with some knowledge and a little reluctance to give up that which I was so comfortable with. I was very excited to leave with a renewed enthusiasm, a very good knowledge of how my new camera works and all the new possibilities that lie ahead. It was refreshing to take a course that was taught by a professional photographer and not just another sales assoc looking to increase sales for Henry's. He was knowledgeable, friendly, had a great sense of humor and taught using a technique that kept my attention
and made the 3 hr pass in what seemed like so much less. There were 10 students in the class so everyone, despite where they were on their photographic journey, could enjoy one on one time and interact with each other comfortably. The course as described was accurate and not only met expectations but exceeded them, I look forward to getting out and using my new 60D (although I will have to have someone hide my old Rebel for a while)all thanks to this class. I also look forward to participating in more classes in the future. My sincere thanks to Joe(you're not only a great photographer but a great teacher)and Henry's for offering affordable classes so that we can grow as photographers no matter what level we choose.
I signed up for this course to learn more about my new camera, and as someone new to the world of DSLR cameras I was not sure what to expect. What I came away with was a great working knowledge of my camera and how to get the most of it, and an eagerness to get out and put into practice what I'd learned. I was thrilled to discover the course was led by a knowledgeable instructor who was both experienced and engaging and added colour to the course content with his own anecdotes. Combined with the well prepared course material and a small class, it was a winning combination. The class advertised an introduction to the 7D and 70 D, and was also open to those with a 60D - and all three models were represented in our class. Though the content addressed the 7D and 70D, the instructor was familiar with all 3 models and was able to teach on each one equally and speak to the differences and similarities between the models. The course moved along at a swift pace, with lots of opportunities to ask questions, and just enough hands-on activities to allow us an opportunity to try first hand what was being taught. What most impressed me was that while the equipment and experience levels of each participant varied from absolute beginner with basic equipment to seasoned photographer with all the accessories, everyone seemed to come away with a greater understanding of how to get the most of their camera and picked up a few tips and tricks too! All in all I was very satisfied and will definitely be pursuing more courses through the school of imaging in the near future.
I was under the assumption that this course was
to find your way around the 7D . I own two rebel cameras and it was time to move up.
The course that was delivered is a 101 insert the battery course .
Though I did find the course refreshing and well delivered it was not what I was looking for in content.
