DSLR 102: Hands-On Workshop

In our Hands-on Workshop you will have the chance to apply photographic concepts through in-class activities to overcome challenging situations you may encounter in your everyday photography.

You will learn practical approaches for taking better portraits, tracking and focusing of moving subjects, photographing in low or challenging lighting conditions and taking greater control of your camera's built-in flash.

During the session you will be using your own camera while working with other students to recreate challenging photographic scenarios in class and discovering the best way to resolve them.

Prerequisites:

DSLR 101 course or Equivalent Knowledge

Course Outline:

- Scene Modes vs Program mode: Getting the best results
- Creating Better Portraits: Focus & Recompose technique, using Fill Flash and Fine tuning results
- Photographing subjects in motion: Controlling Focus modes and areas
- Shooting in Low Light: Stabilizing your camera, Raising the ISO and dealing with Noise
- Combining Ambient and Flash light for better results at indoors and in low light situation

Who Should Attend?

Individuals that would like to put into practice previously learned photographic concepts.

Individuals attending this course should have basic understanding of the topics covered in the DSLR 101 courses.

- Charged battery (fully charge it before class)
- Memory card
- Tripod (if you have one)

  • Pre-registration and payment is required for all courses.
  • All courses begin promptly at stated times.
  • The School of Imaging reserves the right to cancel or postpone any course without notice.
  • In the event of a course cancellation or postponement, all pre-registered attendees will be notified to arrange another suitable date.
  • Customers may reschedule or refund registrations up to 48 hrs prior to the course start time at no charge.
  • If less than 48 hrs notice is given, up until the course start time, only rescheduling will be offered and an administrative fee will apply. (See Fee Table)
  • Refunds will not be issued and rescheduling will not be permitted, if requested after the stated course start time. Missed courses are not eligible for refunds or rebooking.
  • Course credits with the School of Imaging will be valid for a period of 12 months from the date of purchase of the original course.
