  • Not just for landscapes

  • April 20, 2011
  • By: Blake

This lens amazed me when I got it. I know wide angle is great for landscapes, group pics if you have a ton of people. I had another issue to deal with that this lens just made possible. A friend asked me to do a shoot for him while he was performing a guitar gig. The problem, very tight quarters. I was basically forced to shoot from a few feet away. Now I took a look at a few of the lower end wide angle lenses, the distortion when you're shooting something that close is just crazy. People look like bobbleheads. Nikon's 14-24? Almost no distortion at all. It was just a night and day difference. If you're mainly using it for landscapes, it'll be amazing, weddings, no problems. Up tight and close? Never thought it would work until I tried this lens. Expensive but worth every penny.

  • Finest Ultra-Wide I've Ever Used

  • March 15, 2011
  • By: Darren Scala

Yes it's expensive but it's worth every single penny. Nikon seems to bend the rules of physics with this lens. I use it on D3 and D700 bodies. Couldn't be more satisfied. Get. This. Lens.

  • Amazing Lens

  • August 11, 2015
  • By: Chris

After doing much research, I purchased this lens to use for astrophotography and landscapes. The features that attracted me were the ultra wide angle, wide aperture, ultra sharp image quality and sturdy build. I haven't been disappointed. It is everything I wanted and more. When I purchased it I paid around $1800, now it is listing at around $2300. That was a bonus I wasn't expecting. The only drawback I can find is that it cannot take standard filters. Expensive bulky specialized filters need to be purchased if using filters is a necessity. Fantastic lens - Image quality is amazing.

  • Best in Class

  • May 25, 2015

This may be the best wide angle zoom ever made. It is sharper corner to corner than any Zeiss wide angles and all around top notch lens. Nikon pro build. Henry's customer service and fast shipping makes purchasing this lens a good experience.

  • Holy trinity part I

  • April 20, 2015
  • By: Nick

I own the first two lenses in the trinity. 24-70 70-200. And now FINALLY I own this beautiful incredible wonderful lens. No words can do justice to what this lens can do . It is crazy sharp, incredibly fast and worth every penny I paid. The only thing that would make this lens any better is if it had VR. But at shutter speed to equal focal length it really isn't necessary. If I had one criticism it would be the inability to fit it with a simple non bulky filter system. Everything I have seen is huge and ads too much weight. Conklin for example.

  • Great Lens

  • April 29, 2016
  • By: Adam

I purchased this lens last year, with landscapes mostly on the mind but knew it could have other applications for creativity. I always like to read reviews or watch videos before making a purchase( especially when it's a rather pricey one)which I did with this lens. I liked the sounds of how sharp it was and how it didn't seem to have that bubbled fisheye lens look with lines. It really is sharp from corner to corner, and it's great for landscape selfies, too. The only reason I did not give this a 5 star rating is that for me, it seems like this bulbous piece of glass seems to be a magnet for anything that blows in the wind. I feel like I have to take a quick shot, then clean off the lens, and repeat. I also don't like how you can't put any filters on it without some expensive contraption to go over it. All that aside, It is a great lens to have in your arsenal of camera gear.
