With the Canon Pixma Pro-100's Dye-Based 8-ink system your photos have never looked better. By using ChromaLife100+ dye inks with three monochrome shades the Pixma Pro-100 provides exceptional longevity and produces rich hues and smooth tonal gradients for both colour and black & white prints.
Canon encourages artists' creativity by allowing them to print on the widest range of materials not produced from a printer manufacturer. With that in mind, Canon software (that comes standard with our PIXMA PRO inkjet printers) can recognize over 200 3rd party ICC profiles, including many of the TIPA award-winning photo papers over the last seven years, like the three-time consecutive-winning ILFORD GALERIE Prestige Mono Silk photo inkjet paper.
The many awards Canon printers receive prove how the patented FINE print head dramatically improves image quality. Another benefit that is truly appreciated is its reliable performance. Designed with three times as many nozzles as some competitive models, Canon's FINE print head is built to clog less so you don't waste ink. With Canon, more ink is put to good use on your final image, and less is lost while cleaning a print head.
Print your photos for the room they are going to be displayed in. Select the type of lighting under which a print will be displayed and the Ambient Light Correction program will adjust the colour of the final print. This adjustment will ensure the displayed result is a professional quality photo print that looks exactly as the photographer had intended.
Canon's Optimum Image Generating (OIG) System precisely reproduces colours by selecting the optimal ink mix from countless combinations and placing the droplets on the paper in real-time with unmatched accuracy.
With a choice of Wi-Fi or ethernet connection, you can hook up your printer in the optimal location and access it on multiple devices. Whether you're printing business papers on your desktop or your son's presentation on your laptop, you have the freedom to print the documents you need on the spot, seamlessly and smoothly.
Watch world renowned wildlife photographer Andy Biggs talk about the fantastic quality of the Canon Pixma-100:
Be sure to calibrate with your computer and screen and you will not be disappointed. The Pro Lustre paper gives very rich colour. The learning curve is non-existent really. What you see on the computer screen is what you will get on paper. Ink cost however is substantial. The cartridges do not last long and are about $150 a set.

Purchased this printer right after Blacks Photo closed and did not trust anywhere else for prints.
Setting up the printer was simple and was ready to use within a few minutes, for me. The prints that come out from this printer is amazing. Having worked at Blacks Photography when it was still operating its stores, I have seen many photos from both the "dry" and "wet" labs and I have to admit, my Pixma Pro-100 takes printing to the next level. I have used both the Photo Paper Plus Glossy II in 4"x 6" as well as the Photo Paper Pro Lustre in 8.5" x 11". Both are great quality papers but the Lustre is gorgeous.
My words of advice to the amateur shooters is: do not expect this printer to output beautiful, vibrant, and sharp photos straight from the camera; editing and proper calibration of your monitor and printer is required.
*I shoot with a Nikon D610 and use Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5 to process my photos.
I paired this printer with a DSLR package purchased during Boxing Day. The printer was on sale and I received a further discount because of purchasing the DSLR kit. Then they included a Canon Art Frame Kit also! What a deal!
What about the printer? Well, it's a monster of a machine. It is heavy, because of its professional build quality. ( it has a metal frame structure. So it is solid). It is big, because of its wide format. And it is sophisticated in its ability and quality. Simply put, once I unpackaged and installed the cartridges and print head and let the printer do its print head alignment ( that's all there is to do setting up), I followed the instructions on connecting to my home wireless network. It was a matter of pushing the Wireless front button for a couple of seconds. Then pushing the WPS button on my home router and it was done!
I loaded a 5x7 sheet of paper then took a picture of my Christmas tree with my iPad and clicked the print button, choose the Pixma Pro 100 as the printer and pressed print! It printed a lab quality photo effortlessly!
Then I proceeded to install the Mac software and minutes later everything was up and running. That easy. What a sophisticated monster this machine is. I highly recommend it.
I have been looking for a decent photo printer and I found a fantastic printer and I got it for a fabulous price! I run an apparel decorating company and have been looking for a good quality printer to do my photo transfer for shirts and this is the one! The software was a bit challenging to install but likely my own error, once I had it up and running it was simple to use with awesome output results! I am thrilled!
