My best "Zoom" lens, ever.
October 17, 2016
Why would you buy another "Sony Zoom" lens if you already have the 16-50mm kit lens? Because this one is not just any, zoom lens. It is the best wide angle zoom lens, Sony ever made for the NEX / Alpha APS-C cameras. Last summer, I walked in to the Henry's store in Mississauga (still not fully convinced) to try this lens out. After a few minutes of excellent intro, I was allowed to put it on my gear and shoot a few test shots. I compared the results to the kit lens, and decided to keep this lens on! It gave me the much needed extra width, and the distortion, usual for wide angle lenses, was not disturbing at all. I shot my best photos of Niagara Falls with this lens, the very next day. In spite its F4 maximum aperture, I used it to photograph the Milky Way, and it turned out ok. Nowadays I use the Rokinon 12mm/F2 for better results of star pictures, but the 10-18mm is still a good second pick even for that kind of pictures.
