  • Multi-purpose Zoom Lens
  • For APS-C Cameras
  • 13x High Zoom Ratio
  • Filter Diameter: 62mm
  • For use with smaller chip APS-C cameras only
  • A minimum focusing distance of 13.8" at all focal lengths & produces a maximum magnification radio of 1:2.9
  • Offers Sigma's OS System (Optical Stabilization) allowing handheld photography even in low-light situations and covers wide-angle to telephoto to macro photography
  • More compact size than previous 18-250mm
  • Use of Thermally Stable Composite (TSC) material currently used only by Sigma
  • TSC, which is incorporated into the lens barrel and is often compared to polycarbonate, has a high degree of elasticity and exhibits little variation in its structure in extreme temperature conditions
  • This means that internal barrel expansion and contraction due to extreme temperature variations is less prevalent
  • TSC also contributes to the lens' size reduction
  • The non-macro 18-250mm F3.5-6.3 without TSC weighs 22.2 ounces and is 3.1 by 4 inches in diameter, whereas this macro lens is 16.6 ounces and 2.9 by 3.5 inches in diameter
  • Sigma optimized this lens' power arrangement by incorporating double-sided aspherical lenses and re-examining the design to achieve a more compact filter diameter
  • The lens has an approximate 13x high zoom ratio with a filter size of 62mm in diameter
  • Sigma's unique OS system, as well as one Special Low Dispersion (SLD) glass and three aspherical lens glasses, compensate for camera shake and enable correction of colour aberration, respectively
  • Equipped with a Super Multi-Layer Coating to reduce flare and ghosting
  • Hyper Sonic Motor (HSM) ensures fast and quiet autofocusing
  • Rounded, seven-blade diaphragm creates an attractive round blur to the out of focus areas
  • The lens features a brass-made bayonet mount applied on the surface to reinforce strength for long-term use and enable high accuracy and solidity
  • Lens Construction: 16 Elements in 13 Groups
  • Angle of View: 13.7 degrees
  • Number of Diaphragm: Blades 7
  • Minimum Aperture: f/22
  • Working Distance: 35cm / 13.8in

  • Maximum Magnifications: 1:2.9
  • Dimensions (Diameter x Length): 73.5mm x 88.6 mm / 2.9in x 3.5 in

  • Great walk around lens

  • September 11, 2013

I was looking for more reach than my 18-55 lens and I don`t always want to bring a long telephoto lens . This lens allows me to leave all the other lens home and not worry about missing a photo op. It is the same length as the 18-55 Nikon VR lens so it fits easily in a small top loading bag. I was not expecting a fast autofocus but was pleasantly surprised with how fast and accurate it was. Very happy with my purchase!

This is a very nice lens for travel. It will increase my reach and give me macro option as well. It balance well with D5100 body very well. It feel good on your hand.Another plus is the price, almost 50% less than Nikon's 18-200MM. It focus very well in low light, works well with SB600 external flash. Produce better photo than Nikon 18-55MM kit lens.

I have gone two lens to one and dont look back. No more specks picked due to field lens change. Improved picture quality over my two Nikon kit lenses. Fast focus and quite accurate except for 250 at macro distances. Frequently need to go to manual. no problem. Big difference from Nikon 18 to 200.

  • sigma 18-250mm macro lens

Must admit I was a bit hesitant to get away from my Nikon lens pair. Having travelled a bit now and having the convenience of not constantly changing lenses has been great. Auto focus has surpassed my expectations. It is quick and quiet. Images have been clear and crisp shooting in manual mode. Auto most certainly required more editing but were still ok. All and all a great walk around lens and sure beats the price of Nikon's similar ( 18-200 ) lens. Thanks to staff at Henry's Orleans for the recommendation !
