I own this lens and it is being used on my 7D Mark II (of which had a defective shutter and was replaced.) Oh well back to the lens - tack sharp... I also have the 24mm pancake for APS-C and have just ordered the new Canon EF 70-300MM F4-5.6 IS II USM Will it make me a better photographer?
Probably not but I will have fun trying...

Report As Inappropriate
I've had the chance to use the STM and IS versions of this lens. The STM version is definitely superior, well worth the extra money. After using this lens for several weeks I have yet to experience even one incidence of focus hunting, focussing is silent unless you press your ear to it. Perfect for video and stills this lens seems to know what you want to focus on before you do.
Only downside is it's EF-S only, but for any body with that mount it's fabulous.
Canon EF-S 18-135 IS STM is a great walk around lens.
It has a nice range - from wide to mid-tele. It is an excellent for those times when you don't want to be bothered with changing the lenses (for example during vacations). I can put it on, and leave everything else at home.
It it fast - especially at the wide end (f/3.5).
It's got image stabilization - always a nice thing to have.
Focusing is quiet, actually, it is silent! Focusing speed seems to be slightly slower than Canon's USM lenses, but not by much, but I haven't run into situation where this caused me to miss a shot.
The front element doesn't rotate - a big bonus if using a polarizer filter.
I would highly recommend this for any one who can use EF-S on their camera. This is a great replacement (and a big step up) from the 18-55 kit lens.
