I have been using this for about 2 months on a NEX7. I bought this to replace the 55-210 & the Zeiss 16-80 a-mount. Besides combining the 2 lenses into 1, I also now have image stabilization and silent autofocus (something the Zeiss was lacking) I was considering either of the Sony e-mount options but the newest one (the $900 LE) has received mixed reviews and the older one is $950 and the filter diameter is 67mm, (I already own 62mm UV & CP) The build quality is very solid and matches the NEX7. The inner focus ring is a little odd to use if you are used to it being at the end of the lens. The image quality seems slightly better than the 55-210 & right on par with the Zeiss. Sony should make all their lens caps like Tamron as it is very easy to handle even with the hood on. The one area this falls short of the older 18-200 is smoother zooming for video. The Tamron is a little stiff so if video is your main use for this lens, the Sony may be a better choice. All in all, I'm very pleased (especially on sale for $699) and this has become my 2nd favorite lens (the 24mm Zeiss beats all)
