I have just picked up this amera a few days ago. It is a great camera so far. Picture quality so far is stunning. I ahev only a 4GB memory card and with the 12fps it filled up in several minutes when shooting in frame mode. There are many features yet unused like the HD video, the GPS, and the HDR settings.I have not had much time top play around with it .I upgraded from a Sony R1, to a A350 (which was rendered useless do to getting caught in rain) , and finally my a380 was traded in for the A77. So far I am happy even with a kit lens ...The reviews speak for them selves just google it like I did. For me I like to take nature and landscape pictures, at times I will build a abstract in cs5. So this camera with its fne quality pictures and its hdr ability plus the gps tracking and the 12fps , should be a great . Oh yeah it has a weather seal also so hopefully there will be no more issues with getting caught with out a weather cover. For now I will give this camera a 5. But I do reserve the right as a human being to change my opinion. Please join me at the Official sony A77 flickr site and check out many pictures using the A77. http://www.flickr.com/groups/sonya77v/

I’ve now had the a77 for a few months and I’m very pleased with it. On the plus side is the 24mp sensor that with the right lenses can give some great detail for an aps-c sensor. Some of the other positives are the 12fps, gorgeous HD video and weather sealing. A couple things worth particular mention are the articulating rear LCD screen and the OLED digital viewfinder both of which are cutting edge and things that no one else are doing at this time. A couple other nice features are the programmable rear buttons and some of the so called “gimmick “features. Handheld twilight scene mode when shooting very still images can give you spectacular low light results by combing 3 shots at different ISO settings. One last thing is the grip and the feel of this camera. I came from the Sony a350 which was fairly comfortable, but a little too small for my hands. The a77 feels perfectly balanced, large enough without being too heavy and the grip feels very good.On the downside is the 1/3 stop loss with the use of the SLT technology. This is one of the reasons that the a77 suffers a little with noise at higher ISO settings. I don’t shoot at high ISO’s so it’s not been a concern for me and it cleans up well in LR3 when I do. The other issue is the glitches Sony has had with firmware 1.02 and 1.03. Version 1.04 has fixed most of the issues and I’m sure further FW updates will improve things even more.I’ve tried to think of more negatives, but for what I use the camera for wildlife, sports and family I’ve no serious complaints. I could go on about the positives but I think I’ve made my point. I’m very pleased with my purchase.
I took receipt of this wonderful camera, three weeks ago and have been putting it through its paces. The Good: Image quality, responsiveness, AF is vastly improved from the A55 and the A300, low light performance is marginally improved compared to the A55. The real pluses for me are a) micro-focus, b) ISO 50, C) 12fps, d) cost compared to competition e) in-built steady shot e) many programmes can be adjusted to suit your shooting style. The Bad: Some of my Minolta teleconverters do not work with the A77, especially the 1.4 (original). No other disappointing issues. I am delighted with the purchase and to Henry's for delivering it to me in 4 days when there is a worldwide shortage of this gem.
