I purchased this tripod as a Christmas gift for my girlfriend. After playing around with it for a bit, I was very impressed. It easily supports her camera and lens (Canon 50D and Sigma 70-300). The ball head clamps securely and the metal quick release plate makes going from the camera bag to the tripod a breeze. Like most newer Manfrotto units, the quick release mechanism has a safety catch to lessen the chance that you will accidentally disengage the quick release. The head also has a tension knob which makes adjustments with the camera mounted much easier then heads without tension adjustments. Unlike Manfrotto's older small units (Like my 725B Digi that I use for travelling), this one has metal leg clamps which are adjustable, so you can re-tighten them as they wear with use. The legs have 2 angles at which they can be set, which makes using it on uneven terrain much easier and allows you to get low to the ground for work such as macro. The centre column is reversible so it can be used inverted and the two legs that face the user are foam wrapped so using it in the cold is much more hospitable on your bare hands. This is a great entry level tripod for people getting into photography or as a travel tripod for smaller equipment. Don't buy a cheap tripod with a plastic components to save a few dollars. If something fails and your camera hits the ground, you'll wish you would have spent the few extra bucks.

As a compact tripod I absolutely depend on it. Its light and stable enough for me to carry it around with confident. Easy to carry around and a stylish style which carries a fancy well known brand name. The kit has a fairly affordable price with compare to other tripods in a same range. Highly recommended for everyone with a entry level DSLR.
