I bought this tripod as soon as it went on sale instead of the other Manfrotto I had intended to get. Weight wise, it's a bit heavier (by about 1 lb) and a bit taller than the MK293A4-A0RC2, but it comes with the same ball head. So far I have been very pleased with it. It is sturdy and can go quite low to the ground unlike my old tripod. This makes it great for those low to the ground shots and macro's. You can also invert the centre post for even lower shots if necessary. The quick release plate is a snap to use and easy to put on your camera with the D-ring. Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase even though I've only had it for a couple of weeks. I would say it was worth the investment so far.

I just got this tripod and I am very impressed with it. The legs are easy to operate and the angle can be adjusted easily along with the height. It is sturdy and I am not worried about it holding my Canon 7D. The RC2 ballhead is easy to operate and can be tilted and moved all over so that the camera can be pointed in all directions. The quick release plate is really simple to use - much easier to mount my camera than the one on my previous tripod. It locks firmly and there is a safety feature that requires you to push a small lever with the locking lever to ensure the lock will not come undone accidentally. This is a fairly heavy tripod so it would not be great for someone who wants one to cart around on a hiking trip but for everyday use it is amazing.
