  • Superb lens on a full frame

I won't add to what Scott said, what he said is right on. I had Tokina AT-X Pro 11-16mm Dx for my Nikon D7000 about a year ago and I was very impressed with it. I have Tokina AT-X Pro 16-28mm f/2.8 DX for my Sony A7 full frame and I am also very impressed with it! Very sharp, clear journalistic style imagery and like Scott said it works well in bright, outdoor light. My big concern is the front lens it bulge out and can easily scratch the surface and the lens would be useless so it's best to keep the cap on all the time and take it off when you're going to shoot pictures. If you decide to purchase Tokina AT-X Pro 16-28mm DX it will be money well worth the spend.

I recently purchased this lens because I wanted a fast (f/2.8), quality wide-angle zoom for my Nikon D90. I couldn't justify forking out the money for the brand-name lens so I did a whole lot of homework and opted for this Tokina lens. So far I figure that I've taken about 500 photos with it and I am extremely impressed. This lens works very well in low light situations. It has afforded me the ability to capture quality journalistic style images quite easily. Even when I zoom in on an image to review its sharpness I find that I am looking at pixels before blur. It works very well in bright, outdoor light as well. My concern is only that the convex front element will be scratched easily and render the lens useless. I have overcome this in the short term by leaving the cap on and only removing it when I'm getting ready for a shot. It seems to be working well so far and I have been in some really dusty situations. This is likely too much lens for my D90, but I'm not giving it up for anything. If you're not keen on paying twice what this lens goes for then I would suggest that you do some research like I did and look very closely at Tokina.
