Excellent Camera

I received the Canon 60D as a gift over two week ago and have shot about 350 photos and made several 13”x19” prints already. Its design and capabilities have impressed me enormously. First, the body is elegantly ergonomic, fits my hands (normal sized) extremely well, and balances very nicely with the Canon 15-85 IS lens attached (an outstanding general purpose lens that I purchased in February). Although the body is reinforced plastic on an aluminum frame, it feels extremely solid, so I have little doubt it will survive normal wear and tear. Just remember: football helmets are plastic! Image quality is outstanding through ISO 800 and still very good at ISO 1600 and 3200. Images at 64000 are still good, but I would only use 12800 in extreme circumstances.
The first of my three favorite innovations on the Canon 60D compared to the Rebel line is the tilting LCD screen, which I have already used for very low angle and high angle photographs several times. It is also excellent for taking self-portraits when rotated to face forward. The second very appealing feature is the wireless Speedlite control using the pop-up flash. This works flawlessly in controlling my 430EX as the main light while using the pop-up for fill. The speedlite ratio control works beautifully, as a test sequence of side-lit self-portraits demonstrated to me. Third, I find the level to be very useful in many circumstances.
I have only recorded a few short video clips so far, but I found no problems doing so. In short, the Canon 60D is a superb camera with all the professional features many photographers will ever need. It has already allowed me to expand my creativity. Worth the price!
