    • Excellent Camera

    • October 19, 2010

I received the Canon 60D as a gift over two week ago and have shot about 350 photos and made several 13”x19” prints already. Its design and capabilities have impressed me enormously. First, the body is elegantly ergonomic, fits my hands (normal sized) extremely well, and balances very nicely with the Canon 15-85 IS lens attached (an outstanding general purpose lens that I purchased in February). Although the body is reinforced plastic on an aluminum frame, it feels extremely solid, so I have little doubt it will survive normal wear and tear. Just remember: football helmets are plastic! Image quality is outstanding through ISO 800 and still very good at ISO 1600 and 3200. Images at 64000 are still good, but I would only use 12800 in extreme circumstances. The first of my three favorite innovations on the Canon 60D compared to the Rebel line is the tilting LCD screen, which I have already used for very low angle and high angle photographs several times. It is also excellent for taking self-portraits when rotated to face forward. The second very appealing feature is the wireless Speedlite control using the pop-up flash. This works flawlessly in controlling my 430EX as the main light while using the pop-up for fill. The speedlite ratio control works beautifully, as a test sequence of side-lit self-portraits demonstrated to me. Third, I find the level to be very useful in many circumstances. I have only recorded a few short video clips so far, but I found no problems doing so. In short, the Canon 60D is a superb camera with all the professional features many photographers will ever need. It has already allowed me to expand my creativity. Worth the price!

    • Excellent Entry Pro Camera

    • February 20, 2012

You'll want to think hard about the Nikon D7000 and the Pentax K5 options, but surprisingly, the Canon 60D is a top choice and became mine. Spec to spec, the Nikon D7000 will take the cake and the Pentax K5 is really attractive with strong measure - however and above all, the Canon 60D rates top notch for usability and enthusiast enjoyment overall - it is highly intuitive, responsive and flexible camera giving you options galore in brand name lens options and accessories - it also delivers stunning high quality images that match or surpass competitors. It might not have all the specs and build of others, but if you are into building up your camera skills, wanting to access all sort of lenses at different price ranges and wanting to access pro photography results, go for the Canon 60D - it is just a great and fun entry level pro camera that will follow your growth and interest as you progress towards are more "pro" build and spec camera - try it on for size.

    • Awesome camera

I bought this camera on boxing day along with a Canon 24-70mm f2.8 lens. This is a perfect combination for me specially during low light situations where I can bump up the ISO to 6400 and still get a decent picture. Great ergonomics, and solid construction. Weather sealing is good, my 60D still works after using it outdoors while it drizzles or during heavy snow, but I would not recommend to use it during thunder storms. What I really like is the swivel screen for those hard to reach angles and views. I also like the creative filters which make the pictures more fun and interesting. It's also nice that you can use the main flash a commander for strobe work, however, what I dislike is that it can't be use for high speed sync. Another dislike is the single memory card slot, it would be nice to have one SD and one CF. I would suggest to try it for yourself, you will not be disappointed.

    • Good professional entry

I bought it since Xmas 2010. Loved it every minute using it. The only difference from EOS is its HD video feature. I only started using it on a few occasions and found the quality really good. To shoot a good steady one, a mini tripod against your shoulder when shooting is recommended to get a more professional look. I also like its high ISO available. With 6400, noise starts to show signicantly. With ISO 2000, 2500, 3200, picture qualities are excellent. I use the 18-200mm versatile lens to shoot indoor performances, birthday parties etc with excellent results. The locking mechanism on the zoom lens is a good safety device. I never take pictures using the automatic dial anymore. Its amazing to try out using its Manual mode with so many features and all with such amazing qualities with up to 14 Meg pixels. This is my first introduction to more professional like photography. I use a 18-200mm lens and it works like a charm. I have no use for my other cameras but to sell them all.. Conclusion: Good camera and try to get the 18-200mm lens as well.
