Now onto my review! When I bought this light stand I was looking for something that could handle the weight of an Alien Bee B400 and decided to give this model a try. The stand arrived within a few days and was in immaculate condition (no dings or scratches).
I've had the stand for a few months now and really like it. I use it as my primary stand in my studio. It works great with my lights and is extremely sturdy. The stand also still feels sturdy at it's max height of 9.5'.
The air cushion feature of the stand is extremely helpful - basically, when you lower the stand, the air cushioning prevents your lights (or whatever you have pinned at the top) from crashing down on you. It all glides down slowly and softly.
I also didn't have to buy any additional attachments to use my Alien Bees with this stand so I was very happy about that.
I would definitely recommend this stand to anyone starting out - it will do everything you need without breaking the bank.
