We bought this bag (the version without the flag) in 2008 so have had alot of experience with it. We needed it for travelling. I do trip videography and work as I go along so I take a fair bit of equipment with me when I travel. This bag fits everything I need plus more. It had a well padded sleeve for my mac laptop which is easy for someone other than the wearer to pull in and out. I could fit extra things in there too like a magazine and all my documents I keep in a duo-tang folder. The front bottom has a compartment that opens completely up. This is where I would put my big point and shoot Canon, Camcorder, DVD Hi-def dvd burner and a bunch of chargers and cords. We usually could fit in my son hand held game devices, and daughters smaller point and shoot too, as you see it can take alot. This compartment has velcro dividers that you can adapt for your own use. It's a little clumsy to use when on the wearer but great when you lay it on a table. There are lots of smaller compartments for memory cards, remotes, etc...Lots of room. The top has a compartment again which we found useful for extra stuff like a shirt or all the extra long hdmi wires, etc... Travelling in Europe usually means dealing with pickpockets so it's nice to be able to hide the zippers under the flap with the clamps. I would entertwine the zipper bungees for extra security. The top section is not as secure though so I wouldn't put valuables in there. Our travels take a lot of abuse and our laptop has always been fine. It does get heavy with all the equipment but hubby always found it comfortable and preferred it to having separate laptop and camera bags. This also helps with carry-on limits as everything fits in one bag. It's great to keep everything stored neatly at home but it's too bulky to use just running around town so usually we use separate bags for that. As I've said we've used this bag extensively to travel and it is very durable. Our travels take a lot of abuse and our laptop/camera equipment has always been fine. We've been very happy with it!

I was looking for a larger backpack that I could use to carry my camera to and from work and also have room for things I need for my job. When I saw this bag I thought it would be perfect. I don't normally carry my laptop to work, but I thought the laptop section would be perfect for carrying teaching papers and marking back and forth. The bag will work out perfectly. It has plenty of room for all the things I need.
I bought this for travelling to carry laptop and camera gear and it's fine for that but a little large for everyday use. The Canadian Flag model I think is made a little more cheaply than the regular model, thus the price difference. The buckles are not as rugged as the the ones on my other Lowepro bags. The padding is fine and the laptop pocket is good. I would wish this had the AW rain hood, but you can't have everything I guess. It's pretty easy to sling it on one shoulder and change lenses without taking it off. I often carry a Gitzo 1541T tripod and the water bottle pocket is a little small and possibly weak for this, but so far it is holding up okay. Overall, it's a good value but I think the regular model would be a bit more rugged.
