I scanned negatives dating as far back as 1965 with this simple to use, efficient scanner & I highly recommend it! Best way to easily digitize your old family photos by scanning the negatives. Great color renditions compared to "scanning" photos. And much more efficient. An excellent, inexpensive solution!! Get one!

We purchased this scanner because the one we had would not work with Windows 7. We are very pleased with the images. Some of the slides we scanned were at least 60 years old. After we ran them through the scanner we used the enclosed software to inhance the images and they were awesome!
If it seems to good to be true, it probably is. This isn't a true film scanner but is essentially a digital camera/light combo- the backlight shines through and the sensor just photographs the image (not a true scan). I was hoping it would give me "okay" quality of some old vacation snapshot negatives but it wasn't up to it, even when negatives were properly exposed. It creates a grainy final image, and isn't worth wasting the time on if you want to create a digital archive from your negatives. Spend the extra money and get a real scanner. I can't believe Henry's is even selling this item; it's the kind of low end consumer item you'd find at Walmart, not at a respected photo store. Disappointing. Returned for a refund and bought a flatbed scanner which was well worth the extra money.
