I received a Gorillapod SLR-Zoom for my birthday a few months ago. I have a Canon T1i and have used the Gorillapod most of the time with my 17-50mm lens. With its light weight and compact size I find it perfect for every day use and travel. We took it on a recent trip to California and it helped us capture excellent memories of our vacation.

The Gorillapod SLR-Zoom is surprisingly sturdy. I've used it with the Nikon D90 and the 18-105 mm kit lens, and it's held that rig very well. The only issue with stability is getting the legs rigged up correctly. I've found it's good if I'm wrapping it around something, but it's a bit more difficult to balance it on its own, though not impossible. It is really lightweight and easy to take around, especially for those who are flying and have limited luggage space and weight. The ballhead strikes me as a must have with the Gorillapod as it makes it much easier to line up a shot with odd leg positioning. The level on the head helps with this too. It won't replace your regular tripod, and I don't find it nearly as stable. Still, it's a great option for when you want to stay lightweight, but still have an option for longer shutter speeds.
