  • This 3N1 20 Kata bag totally suits my needs!

  • April 11, 2012
  • By: Kevin

I like to hike, bike and also nightsky photograph so I also own a telescope. I looked for a bag to suit my overall requirements which meant it had to be lightweight yet large enough to fill my needs. I went in to the Waterloo store with a list of items I probably will take with me on any given outing even items I dont yet own so I dont have to upgrade the bag later. This bag will fit my Canon 60d attached 18-200mm plus room for 1-3 more lenses. I also will add a canon100-400zoom and a macro lense also hopefully soon. The clerk helped me "mock set-up" my bag by physically putting in camera/lenses so I could see how all would be arranged and fit :) I'll have to take off my 18-200 to fit the 100-400 and aranged differently, no big deal for me. Overall I will have 3 lenses. There is plently of room for other misc items also in other compartments. I huge feature... its a "3-way" carry strap (left or right)so I can quickly access my compartments without taking my bag off when in the sling or cross backpack config. It's confortable to wear in all configs. Also at this time my Kata bag doubles for some of my telescope attachements and other items I take with me when I shoot night photo's so its a perfect setup for me for 2 hobbies in one bag. I managed to get this bag on sale for great price @$79.99

  • Kata Bags continue to impress!

I recently purchased another KATA bag, and shortly after I was asked to buy this one for my business partner. Though smaller than its '30' counterpart, I find this bag to be just as exceptional. It also fits a more than adequate amount of gear. It has a rugged build that I feel confident will protect my equipment, as well as compartment customizability. I am also extremely fond of the sling function that you can change to suit your needs - or even make a backpack! It can suit all uses, and change with your day to day requirements. It has ample storage for odds and ends that you my need up top, as well as a rain cover just in case. In short, this is an excellent bag and it delivers in every category. I'm a KATA Customer for life.

It fits both my Canon XA10 and another camera in a large sport handle. There are lots of pockets and the sling is comfortable. Grab it at $79. Thanks to the rain guard, I can bring my nice cameras to more places.

if you are looking for a great bag stop there. the kata 3in1-20 camera bag in simply great. It provide all space I need for my DSLR and a spare lens in the lower bin. The upper bin can be used for personnal gear. The most interesting feature is the portability of the bag. You can wear it as a sling bag (right or left) or as a regular backpack. With the sling configuration, you just have to swap the bag on the side and you have access to the camera without removing the bag. it's very confortable and well made

  • Solid bag...definitely worth a look

(I accidentally reviewed the 3n1-10 Kata bag when I meant to review the 3n1-20...) I purchased this bag in summer '10 when it was on sale for $99.99. I closely researched and tried out similar sling bags from Lowepro and Tamrac, but finally decided on the Kata. There are pros and cons to each brand, but over-all, the Kata had my final vote. Things I like about the Kata: - plenty storage space - front vinyl/rubber material better resists water than the nylon materials on the others - large front grab handle (can double as a sweatshirt holder on those long hikes) - VERY comfortable in sling and backpack mode Things that could improve: - zipper quality; not as smooth as Lowepro or Tamrac - compartment quality (Lowepro and Tamrac bags feel more solid in the way the compartment walls sit inside if that makes any sense, but IMO, it doesn't affect how well it protects your gear) One thing to look out for that almost made me choose another brand (you may find this on the net too with thorough researching): - the compartment that opens to allow quick access to your gear did not zipper closed completely b/c of the way the zipper/design was to allow quicker opening of the compartment. This left a tiny small opening that 'may' allow sand and dirt to get inside. However, when I revisited the Henry's store to purchase a bag (one of the other brands), I took one more close look at the Kata bags and found several examples where the zipper was redesigned and a small tab added to the inside to allow that quick open function to operate better without leaving a small hole. Definitely keep an eye out for this b/c this was what finally made me decide on the Kata bag. I currently have a D90 with battery grip, 50mm, 24-120, and other small accessories.
