For the price you pay you get great results. Some post processing is still needed for sure to doctor some residual overexposure, and incorrect colours (overwarming) but it does diffuse the harsh light of the pop-up flash enough to make it usable for snapshots and times when you don't want to use the cumbersome off camera flash.

the pop up defuser is good it helps with holding back the harsh flash for the built in flash but there will always need to be a little retouch but you cant really stop that

Agree with most of the other comments here. For the price it does a really good job of evening out the light from the pop-up flash on most DSLR and some MILC type cameras. In case it's not clear from the photo, the white curved diffuser is made of soft plastic, and the part that clips into your camera's hot shoe is hard black plastic. I always carry this with my Nikon DSLR, but I'm careful to carry the two parts separately! The one weak spot is that the pins at the front of the black frame could in theory get broken off if you put the unit assembled into a crowded backpack. When you buy it or see it in the store you still see that they ship it dismantled for the same reason (well, maybe also to save on shipping). Anyway, if you're going to use a pop-up flash on people or other living subjects, you definitely want this "Puffer" diffuser!
Nice to have around if I don't have my Flash with me. (Better used for close ups)
Done a 'test' shots with this on my Canon Rebel XS. Macro of a guitar body, which let's you see the wood grain appearance in a glossy finish. Photos of black dog. It helps more with the overly washed out appearance but can give a little too much of a pink tone to skin in certain lighting. I would recommend it for the price & saving details vs washing out a photo.
Get a demo of this with your camera before you leave the store. I've had nothing but frustration with it so far, as the camera will not fire with this in the hot shoe. Fong's "tutorials" are mainly advertising, and pretty useless on this issue.
