I was in the market for a wide angle lens. Originally I was looking at Canon models, but the prices are quite high on those. A salesperson suggested this lens, and I tested it out in the store. At first, I wasn't sure that it was what I wanted, simply because I'm a bit stuck on the Canon lenses when it comes to wide angle. However, I decided that the price was right and it deserved a try. I whipped out my Canon 60D and attached the lens a day later... and WOW! This thing is perfect! It's the sharpest lens in my collection, and the wide angle is really quite impressive. I was a little worried about that bevelled glass getting scratched or broken, so I picked up a lens filter for it. Other than that, I am so happy with this purchase. The lens is tough, and feels solid and smooth. It comes with its own case and a lens hood. Overall, I'm very happy for having chosen the Sigma alternative to the Canon lenses.

• Nice lens

I am really happy with the performance of this lens. I was interested in the Canon 10-20mm lens but the cost was too much for me at the time. The sales person suggested this lens which was significantly cheaper. It performs very well. It is the only non Canon lens I own but I am quite satisfied with it.

I bought this lens because I shoot a lot of landscape and indoor scenes. For the money I paid this is a great lens and does the job well! Of course it has some faults (corner softness, vignetting) but most wide angle lenses suffer from this - the only difference is how extreme the effect is. Quite honestly I haven't seen anything yet produced by this lens that crippled my shot all together and rendered it useless.

Great lens for the price and definitely can produce some excellent images. However, throughout the focal range the lens acts very differently. Acceptably sharp at each end, but in the middle (~13-16mm) it seems to lose a lot of sharpness. Lens shows a fair amount of distortion as well, some of which is difficult to correct. As thus you need to level and compose images very carefully and really get used to the lens.
