  • Fantastic Wide Angle

  • June 28, 2013
  • By: Philip

This lens is tiny compared to an equivalent full frame or crop lens. The build quality is outstanding, featuring solid construction and nicely damped focus and zoom rings. The lens cap is slide-on rather than clip. The style is reminiscent of Nikon's legendary 14-24 f2.8, from the bulbous front element to the built-in lens hood. The only downsides to this lens is that it doesn't take filters and it is prone to flare with bright point sources in the frame. Image quality is top notch, slightly sharper than the Olympus 9-18. The lens gives you a slightly wider FOV than that lens as well, although that lens takes filters and is not as prone to flare (but, like all Olympus lenses, does not include a hood). Also, unlike the Olympus, this lens is F/4 at all focal lengths in the zoom. Overall a fantastic lens and a must-have for any serious m43 or travel shooter.
