I bought this lens to replace the kit lens that came with my D3100. It is very clear and sharp. The improvement in photo quality is incredible. Worth every cent.

Like "John" I also upgraded from the 18-55. It is pricey but you get what you pay for...and then some! Jewel like build quality and performance is incredible! No regrets!

I was thinking of buying Nikon DX 18-200 F3.5 - 5.6 VR2 but after lots of investigation and reading reviews also compare these two lenses and feedback from Henry's sales rep., I decided to choose 16-85 with Nikon filter which is the perfect match for lens. I can tell that it is amazing combination with my D7000. Pictures are fabulous. Although 18-200 will give more range but I thing picture quality is more important, If range is important then adding the Nikon 70-300 will solve the problem.

  • Great multipurpose lens

I bought this lens a few weeks ago to replace the 18-55 kit lens that came with my Nikon D90. I've used it for several shoots from landscapes to close-ups and I'm simply amazed. The pictures are tack sharp and I love the ability to fine tune the focus after auto-focusing.

I used the Henry's trade-in / trade-up program to trade in my kit lens making this lens more affordable.

  • Superb all-rounder

  • March 20, 2013
  • By: Robert

I bought this to replace the 18-70mm on my D7000, just to get that little bit more versatility at both ends of the range. Mission accomplished. I wouldn't say it's significantly better in build or image quality than the 18-70, which is itself a little gem, but the additional wide angle and zoom are just enough to make a real difference in an ideal "walk around" lens. Pricey, but worth it.

very very sharp lens. Nice to have the 16mm wide open, and super sharp, especially at f8. Great travel/walkaround lens.
