Having used both Canon and Nikon DSLR's I will not go back to Nikon again. This camera is vastly superior in image quality and produces images in high speed photography and portraiture that can only be matched by Nikon cameras in the $1000 - $1200 price range. Menu options are easily changed to produce the perfect photo style desired. The manual is easy and the camera is quick to customize to your needs. Canon auto focus is much faster than Nikon and the manual focus is more precise than any camera in this price range. My favourite feature is the abiity to shoot in low light situations without flash while maintaining image quality and noise reduction...something that Nikon has mastered only in their D700 which at a $3000 price range is not in the same purchase catagory as the T1I. If you shoot any images in low light at all you need to have this camera...Nikon and Sony simply do not have any competition in this catagory unless you are willing to spend at least 3 times the amount. I now have this as my go to camera for many situations where my Nikon D300 gathers dust. The HD video option is fantastic and maintains the highest colour quality as do the photos. For landscape, portraits, low light and high speed this is the best camera you will find at this price range.

The on going "Canikon" war goes on. After months of researching and reviews on dSLRs, I've finally made my choice and I'm extremely satisfied with the T1i. Had it now for a few months and getting familiar with all it's "bells and whistles." Janet's review expressed exactly my opinion. The other candidate was the Nikon D90, The D90's dynamic range is slightly and I mean slightly, better on the wedge that the T1i. Some say it's better, well I hope it's better because it is ~$400 more than the T1i, with only a 12MP sensor. To sum it up "Bang for the Buck." If you are thinking of buying, the T1i is an excellent choice.

This is a great camera, Point and shoot ease plus easy to understand menus and settings to satisfy your creative hunger. I am a Henry's found from way back but FYI, I found this at Best Buy for $699( 1 weekend sale). I bought it there and then went to Henry's and bought lenses and accessories. You can also find all the manuals on line and load them on to a tablet PC, IPAD or I phone and bring them with you for easy reference. P.S. I shopped around before buying this, You can't beat Henry's for knowledge and friendly customer service. Henry's hasn't picked up the profesional photography arrogance that one of the major competitor's has. I have never tried Nikon as one reviewer says they are better. But I did have an equivalent Pentax before this camera. No comparison, the canon is superior in every respect!

To start off I must say that yes, the build quality of lower end Canon DSLRs is toy like. However, that doesn't effect the quality of the product or its output in any way. I've used this camera and an XSi both and have had excellent results with them. Don't let the Nikon fan boys/girls trick you into thinking this camera can't produce excellent results. After all, it's not the violin - it's the violinist. For the price it's an excellent camera to get started off with and get your feet wet in the DSLr world.

I had the pleasure of working with both these cameras before purchasing the Nikon d-90.No comparison when compared to each other. If your looking for a pretty good camera on auto mode...well the t1i,would be good .But if your looking for outstanding sharpness, color and versatililty. The t1I,holds no candle to the NikonD90.The one thing i did like with the T1I,was the simple modes and features. But you get more bang for your buck with the other. The T1I has no off mode features for flash and the exposure only goes to 2,where the nikon d-90 has wireless flash options, and the exposure goes to 3.also the photos in low light are amazing compared to the t1I,and have not much grain.I also asked a camera shop about there help and they said...they have more canon's coming in for repairs than the nikons...so this camera sold me.I would totoally recommend the nikon d90 over this camera.
After many years of using Nikon products I decided to try Canon. What a disapointment! I purchased the Canon T1i and in less than a year returned it for the Nikon D90. The D90 is superior in every way to the Canon T1i. From colour reproduction, auto focus, build quality, software and versatility. The new lens such as the 18-55 VR have obvious quality and clarity that Canon could only dream of in that price range. I will stick to Nikon products in the future. A lesson well learned!
