Fantastic Bokeh. Fast, sharp, used on my D800 at 36 MP I can crop it down to almost any telephoto and still print it 40 x 60". This is must for any Nikon FX camera. Ken Rockwell raves about this lens.

After having this lense for a little over 2 years now. I can say it's came in handy. It was all that stayed on my camera for a while. If you're looking to get into photography. Pick this one up. It produces sharp images, and comes in handy in any situation.

  • The great 50mm f1.4

  • April 28, 2012
  • By: John

This is the very first lense I bought a long with my camera, and for a while, it's all any recreational photographer will ever need. From the low light capability at f1.4 to a clear f16, you can get that great shot anyplace! The bokeh it produces when you bring it down at 1.4 is just astonishing! If I had to pick any lense to carry down the street with me, I would use this one, because of it's all around capabilities. If it gets too dark I can bring the f-stop down to around 1.4, and unlike telephoto lenses it produces an image that looks intimate. This lense will produce you to grow your technique by making you move around to get that perfect shot. The only problem I've had is a situation where you're crammed in a small room, and the 50mm just doesn't cut that wide. If this doesn't bother you then I'd recommend this lense to anybody. It's all around perfect for any occasion!

  • The Nifty Fifty

  • March 26, 2012
  • By: jay

There is a reason why they call this little treat the Nifty Fifty! I bought this lens with my camera three years ago and my camera is attached to this it 90% of the time! This lens is very sharp and when shooting at 1.4 it creates a dreamy bokeh. Great for portraits, but also works well for street shooting and landscapes. at 1.4 you can also use this lens in challenging lighting situations like concerts birthday parties. I recommend this lens to everyone I speak with.
