The stands appear to be large enough to support a fair amount of weight. I would not hesitate loading a large roll of paper or standard muslin backdrop. They can also be used as a standard umbrella or light support. Outer diameter of the tubes measure: (from bottom to top) 28mm, 25mm, 22mm, 19mm. However the movement is not always smooth and the locking clamps can take a strong hand to tighten securely, they are also not air cushioned. The Top Cross bar is also large and solid (measuring 28mm outside and a has a wall thickness of ~1.5mm), it comes in 4 lengths of 37.5”each. It can be span from a minimum of 6’ to a maximum of 12’ Assembly is very quick and easy, the top supports slide together and with a simple twist - can’t pull apart. The stands will expand to a full 10 foot with full stability… 10 foot 6 inches with a a bit of a push. It is full metal construction, so there is nothing to crack and brake over time. The bag packs neat and clean with a separate compartment for each component and it folds down to 40” tall and then rolls and straps closed with easy carry handles.
